Sporting a Renault box and other goodies it'll go places Sierra drivers could only have wet dreams about....

Not to mention soft sand comfortably. something 4WD steer clear of LOL

I look forward to seeing it. All of the kombi's I have seen on the Beach have been less than impressive and as for going places Sierra Drivers could only have wet dreams about .. I call bullshit...

Don't get me wrong I love my Buggies but I have never found anyhere on the Beach they can go Sieerra's can't go. Yes I can get there much quicker but at the end of the day if it came to taking off in soft sand faceing up hill a Sierra is gunns kick my ass every time. heck my big ass Landcruiser will take off better.

A very cool looking Kombi, I'm sure it is very capable for a two wheel drive.
I do disagree with the below though!

Why do I need to steer clear of soft sand? I'll happily drive in and tow you when you need it!

Again cool looking Kombi, Credit to you.

Well Daz and Brad, thought you guys would know better.

Many times (well 2 come to mind) duning AND offroading, Sierra drivers said ENOUGH and watched the volksies play.:D:D:D

Your right, I do know better and that is why I said what I said.

Although I don't currently have a Sierra I would happily put my near stock 80 series Landcruiser against any Kombi on the beach and it would kick the kombi's ass in everything apart from speed, and with a kombi it would be pretty close even with speed.

Everything has its place and I love my Buggies, but people need to be realistic. If I put the same amount of $$$ I have put into my Buggy into my 4WD it would be unstoppable.

Yes VW can drive quicker than a 4WD on the beach and depending on conditions may get the occasional place 4WD's can't due to weight and speed.

Anyway as I said I have a Landcruiser waiting if someone wants to find a kombi and come out and play sometime.

I have always been keen to see someone like John Alder out in his kombi to see if he lives up to his reputation. I know his Dual Cab is an awesome piece of work..

I have always loved that thing.

Unfortunately for my uncle building race cars (Formula Vee) takes up almost most of his time now. Don't think he has been on the beach for a few years now because of business interests and his boys are now also racing motorcross which is every other weekend. Next time he he goes though the camera will ready.....

As for a Kombi needing a tow out of soft stuff..... doesn't happen in my family. We usually are the ones offering to help and get abused so we continue on our way while those refusing help sweat it out digging their car out.

I am not saying a kombi will need a tow on the soft stuff I am just saying that kombi owners are on drugs if they think that their kombi can out perform a 4WD in areas other than speed on sand.

i think (like brad said.. in a way).. horses for courses...

Each to their own... On appearance my everyday driver ( six wheel, extended chassis nissan patrol 4.2td ute with a custom patrol pod) would "appear" to be great and it is. but yes it does way 3t, but it also has shit loads of torque. that blue kombi looks great though!
