New seats
So, I found these Skyline R33 seats on fleabay and offered $170. Bargain
Gonna have to make up some frames from thick wall square tube. Gonna try and have it so that the frame slides on like the original seat runners and
then bolts at the front and back of the floorpan with strengthening plate welded under the pan.
Hmm, Does this mean I need to get that pesky floorpan sorted. Me thinks so  Just trying to find an evening when the works truck is free.

Indeed they are Reckon I could sit in them for a few thousand k's
I also got the pan back to mine tonite so bit of welding and make some plates to stop the sand getting everywhere and we're away

Yes!! Floorpan painted :)
So after a hectic week of getting the floorpan to the blasters during work hours I got stuck into painting it this weekend.
Here we go. Before
After
Top of the pan managed to get lots of little air bubbles caught in a fair few places so not entirely pleased with that. What comes of painting in the
dark and slapping to much paint on. May sand those areas back, not sure yet.
underside came out much better
Summers here and it's getting stinking hot working outside and in the garage but better than the cold
So now I have to finish drilling the holes in my modded SA spring plates and buy some bearings and bushes so I can get the rear rolling again. With
the rear rolling I'll strap a skateboard to the framehead so's can move it out the garage easier

 That black paint is more reflective than a mirror!! Excuse my
stupidity if I'm wrong, but would a light sand of the entire painted area, then one final coat ensure that, that pan will last another 50 years?

If I had left it too long between coats then it would require a light sand before another coat went on but if you put another coat on within the
curing time then it can bond to the first coat. Clever stuff huh?
I may have to sand those darned bubbled area downs a bit and repaint. It was possibly a bit to warm and humid. Shall see what KBS tech have to say

I got those bubbles on smaller items I painted with KBS. Very frustrating, as it went on smooth and looked sweet. I checked later and a heap of
bubbles sprouted on the gear stick and collar. The pan looks awesome! I didn't pull mine out, (Just wire brushed it back to metal) but after looking
at yours I wish I had.
Did you find that after washing off the rust blaster, no matter how much you dried it, it still formed a light surface rust? Mine did, in the remnants
of the rinse water on top of the new zinc prime.

YEa, I shoulda painted it back in July when it was cooler. Above 28 degrees the surface goes off too quick and captures the solvent as it flashes off
but due to the top surface starting to go off it gets trapped as bubbles. I also put too thick a coat on the top side. No matter as I have 2L left so
just a bit of a sand to get it smooth and then paint over that.
Least I'll know next time to be more careful.
Hopefully Mick will give me a price on the rear torsion bushes so's I can get the rear rolling

Yea on mine it dried brownie-orange but only in places and not always where the water settled. There definately wasn't rust under the zinc coating
but still a bit off putting.
When painting this stuff it needs to be in the low to mid 20's with less than 50% humidity and you have to make sure you put thin coats on but still
thick enough for it to self level. Once you have the knack it goes on pretty easy and gives a very good finish but this heat and humidity we are
getting at present is the worst condition to use it in hence my 6am start to do the re-coat 
looks heaps better now and properly protected

Rear end rolling!!!!
YAY!!!! I got the rear end back together and rolling even with a few setbacks.
I had to use our nice camera to take piccies so took them at points when my hands weren't so mucky.
Here we have the IRS arms assembled and everything ready to go.
Then we have the pan out of my miniscule yard and with the rear suspension all together.
And here we have the temporary wheels on plus Mr Skateboard for easy transport.
The lady in the hardware shop gave me 1.25 instead of 1.5 pitch thread for the springplate/IRS bolts  Fortunately I could still use these for the thru bolts. Spring plates aren't loaded yet as
didn't have a chain to be able to compress the buggers. No biggy tho
Oh and I need to makea higher tresle as the pan just fits under and in the garage now with no skateboard on the front.
And our Christmas tree that we decorated this morning

Hiya all,
Well with wifey working NYE, NYD and all that weekend I was bored shite-less so decided to strip me steering knuckles down and clean up a few parts
for painting. Cleaned the steering column and indicator switch but the main thing I have played with is the colour scheme for the steels, and later to
be used on the body.
So lets see what people think of the colours
The colours are from a range of enamel paints. the Blue is Royal Blue and the ivory/cream colour is called lace. Anyone know of a VW/Porsche colour
that would be very close to the Blue? I like a nice deep, dark blue
I think looks pretty good and had a quick play with the glovebox lid. Not dry yet think it will look great with the chrome trim
The hydraulic press at work made the LP bushes well easy to remove. Am now wondering where to get the KP thrust washer as I have 0.3mm of play at
present

This is a great project,i am yet to go to this extent with a ground up restore but no doubt will in the future.Once i learn how to weld lol.
As far as i know mick's motors is not open yet.good luck.

I don't think it is a good idea to bolt the plastic chairs in instead of car seats - if they are bolted in, you can't stack them any more. lol

You could bolt two in and then stack two more on top each side. That way you always have extra seating if you go anywhere.

Ah, thanks everyone. I feel much loved now
I think the chair stacking idea is a winner. No more folding chairs taking up valuable boot space
I'm waiting for the vehicle engineer to get back to me as without his OK on my plans I can't continue with getting the seats sorted.
Tim has got my beam ready, thanks Tim will PM later, so once thats back I can rebuild the front end. Then it's just a case of money to get new parts
and strip the engine but that won't take long to put back together.
Oh yea, anyone know where I can get some thrust washers made? bout 0.3-0.4mm play in the KP and you can't buy these anymore.
