Some parts waiting to go on..Sprinstars will wear 145s on the front and 205 rears..after the front beam recieves a 2" narrowing and spindles. Flat4 wheel will replace the current wood wheel. Does anyone know the origin or brand of the wood wheel..I found it at the wreckers and lacquered it.Only problem is it is now splitting..boo!!:fakesniff:

Ive also tracked down some new bumper over-riders for the front and rear bumpers..

Curious as to where the original seats from her will be going/have gone?

The original seats were standard vw bases with charade seats welded to them..Ive kept the bases and sent the seats to heaven..they were very dodgy. My wife originally bought the car here in Adelaide down at Kensington Gardens. We live in Reynella south of the city and the car has been in storage for about 7 years.Mainly because we had too many cars ( read 7) and no where to put it and also because the motor has a pulled stud in the case and is starting to leak oil..time for case savers or a rebuild.

Really thinking those seats look wicked, so I'll definitely have to source something similar anyway as those won't fit 72+ beetles from what I could find.

Glad to see you have the bug fever, I definitely have it too :)

Well a bit of an update...Bought a rust free bonnet from SPLITMEISTER that is currently being resprayed in Antarctica White. I've purchased new hood emblem clips and trim clips for the bonnet aswell. Ive also bought a set of 40mm IDFs in a EMPI kit from CIP1 in Cali aswell as a pair of CSP valve covers from VOLLKS all in anticipation for when the car will be heading up to Peter Debiasi soon for a 1916cc motor with C35 cam and big port heads.:blush:

Snitz!

You seem to have gotten me to kick my arse into gear. As soon as I mentioned Debiasi, Mum knew exactly who I was talking about. Found out that Mum and Dad used him to help with their Squareback at some stage. So I think it only right that I give him a call as well and ask about a 1776 for Zelda.

Also, that RX7 is bloody beautiful!

Yeah, I was going to give Siggy a buzz at GHR to see if he had any 1776's around the place but doesn't sound like he'd be interested in such a thing.

I'll give DeBiasi a call tomorrow, see what the prices are like... If you have any information about prices already, you able to PM them to me?
Keep it up, would very much like to see your bug on the road!

That's one clean rx7 you have there. Only problem I see is too many projects not enough time and which one to do first. Terrible problems to have i'll bet

With the way the australian dollar has been I thought I'd rather spend it on the wifes beetle. Alot can be done for so little money where as the Mazda is a money pit..lol.

Once I get out of my current crappy job then I'll finish the mazda. The mazda owes me nothing sitting there so when it gets finished it gets finished I guess.
The time-frame doesn't bother me..the crash shop took over a year just to paint it..then it lived in a mates rumpus room for a year after being painted while I saved to build a shed to put it in..ha ha! then house renos....ahhh F$%K me it never ends!. I just sit in it and make noises..lol.

Maaaaan those FR-18 Simmys are the Pr0n.

Wish they didn't cost arm+leg+first born or I would so have a set.

Not usually an RX fan but that thing is tidy as.
I reckon with all that oldschool cal look gear like the steering wheel, sprintstars, narrow beam, venetians etc the bug would look awesome with a timber slat roof rack :tu:

Great looking bug and a nice platform to start with. RX7 looks great also. I had a series 2 as well and put a 13b in it and it was one very fun car.

Good luck with them both.

Ahh!! stop it Joel!..Thats next on the list..ha ha!..I like the flat4 style racks..the vintage speed ones look sleek but sit ON the roof in some parts plus the slats are more like dowells..Flat4 rack wins in my opinion.

My old mazda that got me addicted to rotaries..A 1977 RX5 with 13B Turbo and Haltech F7 injection..built about 15 years ago..Theres alot of rotor owners on Ausrotary that love or own VWs too..This forum over here is a bit more civilised though.

Well some new parts were delivered today. They had been doing some travelling too!..from California,to Vancouver,to Memphis Tennesee,to Honolulu then Sydney and Adelaide..phew!!..these carbs have done more travelling than me!. There a EMPI Deluxe 40MM HPMX dual carby kit for my soon to be built 1916 motor..The deluxe kit gets billet air-cleaners alot nicer IMO..

When you booked in to get the engine? ;)

When you're finished, is she still going to be your wife's, or will she be yours? :P

Once I get the boonet back i'll bolt it on and drive the car up on a permit..As for it being her car?..yeah its hers..I have my mazda to build and I have my legnum with 200kws at all four wheels as my daily!..lol.
So its definately gonna stay her car..She'll love the motor and the car when finished. She has a bit of a lead foot too!..My daily is below..

How much is your mate respraying for?
I'm currently looking for someone who'd do some guards at "mates rates" if possible for me...

Ahaha nice Legnum! I can see you're into your japanese cars ;)
But yeah, I could understand your wife being a lead foot in a beetle, I tend to drive mine too hard sometimes, but it is a heap of fun!
