The junka died after the burnout and couldn't restart due to flat battery. That's gotta suck.
The two yellow volksie's blasting down the track looked great and sounded even better at full noise.

Bummer for Brad. Biggest hassel with EFI is getting those hot start maps right and keeping good cranking voltages. Must have been dissapointed.

Haha.....amazing how the years seem to fly by!
Anyway, nostalgia aside for a moment, massive congratulations to Pete for avoiding the cherry and taking the hard earned win. I'm sure competing and
flying the volksie flag was reward enough for making the trip down, but winning all motor must make the trek all that much worthwhile.
Well done, and congratulations to all the other VW owners/crew who got out there as well.

Nice work to all who flew the VW flag - having 4 in a field of 10ish is awesome. Hopefully we can get the same at the Jambo

I woke up this morning, still stoked!!
This means more to me, than my own wins and times,
because I know how long Pete has been racing and building his car,
and on tight bugetry rations.
I was biting my nails waiting for the text messages from Rod Richardson to come through,(thanks Rod!)
The last win Pete had,
was way back in about 2003 or 2004 when the VWs went to Warwick.
(before VWMA began),
and Pete had his trophy stolen by Peter Russell Clark.(Where's the Cheese!!).
Good on you dude.
How did all the other Volksies go?

yeh big bummer day for us,lucky i have a sens of humour.
otherwise it would have been a hot bath and a sharp razor when i got home.
first run if you could call it that was a burnout and an oil leak for these lose.
second run broken water temp sensor,so limp mode for that 19 sec pass.slowest win in history.
then the finally was a lose battery terminal.fuck yeh.
it was a day we had to have to make sure next time should be hassel free.
should be out again next week or two.
it was agreat day apart from the heat wasn't treating me to well cause i had been in bed sick the week prior.thank's for the drink's henry.your a
life saver.
i am looking forward to going out with the vw boy's again soon.
down sharon.

Pete, again Congratulations on your obvious constant hard work and winning this event. For me, losing the race between us (or anybody) sucks - however
it feels a little better to know that I lost to you, the winner of the bracket. No excuses but s**t it was a close race!!!!
(I wasn't sure if you believed my weather reports prior to our run and your delayed dial-in nomination really cracked me up - I was even laughing in
the burnout box as they were cleaning up MY oiled down lane, maybe that's where the 3/10's went?). Best of all, I want a re-match!!!!
On running your first 10 second pass, it must be an awesome feeling after all this time - I hope the feeling lasts with you a long time.
****Outstanding****. As some of us know, the faster you go, the harder it gets.
Mike and Darren, Thanks for your physical and mental support. As you observed, I don't function well in heat (Pete, take note for future runs)
Dave, sometimes NO shinanigans are the best shinanegans - unpredictability is great - and we all get to laugh about it later (I leave the headspin for
non vw's - maybe)
Brad, you'e most welcome. Maybe it's my many years with my current employer, but I love to help anybody (especially friends and fellow racers), in
any way. Glad you're upbeat about your minor teething issues. I look forward to having a skid with you sometime soon. The car looks IMPRESSIVE and a
credit to (the fully sick) you
Ben, it was great meeting you. You have made massive gains in your very short time in the car. - very impressive!! I look forward to seeing even more
improvements in the future and having some runs with you
To all that wern't there, you missed a great VW get together

Ran a best of 12.72 @ 103 mph. Better than what i expected.
Thanks to all the guys there for their advice, but you forgot to tell me where 2nd gear was!!!!!!
Looking forward to racing with you again |
