We have disected as much video footage as we can of Bens crash and have confirmed that the supercharged drag beetle had broken a right outer CV joint on his 1st / 2nd gear change , sending him into a hard right turn into the wall .
It is evident in the 1st pic that Ben has jumped on the brakes before hitting the wall and the right rear wheel has locked and shows tyre smoke . There is no tyre smoke from the left rear tyre . Also 1 black wheel spin line on the strip surface . The only way this is possible with the welded diff assembly is to have had a drive-train breakage that allows one wheel to stop turning . We can also confirm that the right outer CV joint is broken .
The other pics show that you just become a passenger in a situation like this , just like riding a bronco .....

It was a shame to see Ben go out the way he did. But on a good note considering the blower was producing such low boost it sounded awesome and looked like it would have cut a good time.

Hopefully this hiccup will only spur Ben on.

Thanks for the vid of the Hillbilly racer Wayne.

Excusses excusses but that pass the throttle cable had slipped in the burnout and so I ran with only partial throttle for the lose, still managed 83mph for the chase.

Welcome back to here Dave, shame about your crap weekend mate, but at least your car benifited from the big push to just get there. Now it is a car and what a piece of art....absolutely beautiful. Total credit to you and your helpers. When are you going to have a shake down?

i think maybe some chassis strengthening may also be needed before then too, especially the engine and gearbox mounts..

Dave Stoker had spoken to Roger (Heads Up) in regards to the new paint scheme. Roger was ok about the colour scheme being used out here. Its not exactly the same as rogers version there are some slight differences but they are subtle.

fast68,fyi in may this year me and my finance director went to headsup to sling shit with rodger for a few days, when she after seeing the prostock car in the workshop put it straight on him to buy it on the spot. this went on for 5 days but the old guy wants to race it again with him driving this time ?? As a compromise she said we will paint our car the same colour scheme if thats ok,The reply was typical crawford (oh, i dont care) and that was that,so fast68 it is not a f&%#@$ COPYCAT car,but a rendition of quote(the best looking race beetle ever built) and i have done it proud with alot of help from shane @darren (letterart signs @graphics),mike kristen (cbb) chris holland(interspray) bigh(aircooled developments) @mike waldren who worked his slot off every w/end for 5 mths to get the car where it is today I am not having a swipe or a sookup but i thing i need to put a few things straight on how this all came about and to say i am proud of what i ended up with is an understatment so from now on there no more (secret squirrel stuff)if there ever was any????????

As Matt said !! Great Dave ! now where's the pic's ? ( Dave or anyone else)
Dave what was the problem with the belt ?
I think if quick 8 is openned up , is great or made a larger field too.
Maybe 2quick brackets then the 2 finalist race off for overall winner .

The 2 biggest problems for ME are : time for tuning or maintance between racing rounds ( race cars need work ) , and all cars must meet andra rules ( tech too) as meeting comes under Andra sanction . Plus I want to be safe beside racer and there safety to .

pete,if i knew how to load pics i would,remember you are dealing with a fossil ??
the belt problem was not enough tooth contact on the pulley,my stuffup so on to option 2.5 which was all done & dusted
