What are new ones worth and whats chroming worth these days. I will require new ones for mine as they are a little to rough to rechrome (dinted in places).

These are original items (always thicker gauge metal than the repro ones) that have been repaired (cracks welded, towel rail holes welded, dents straightened) and rechromed.

Chrome plating is not cheap especially for good quality - U2U sent. It is worth the extra money though when you get a good job, I went through a chrome plating "agent" who picks up your stuff, has it done and guarantees the work (he uses a number of different platers) - it is good that way because if something is not right, I just ask him to redo it (which has only happenned a couple of times).

Cheers
Alan

I have been following this thread - Stunning is the only word I can come up with.

The optima battery is the ducks nuts, especially with your sound gear - $300 odd but worth every cent, and its completely sealed so no more leaking battery acid :)

i think after 28 pages (it would have been more before the crash) of pictures of the car, we need some head shots of the man behind the machine, the incredible dasdubber himself.

keep up the good work, cant wait to see it in show

Hehehe....I'm a little shy :P

Usually I am taking the photos though hence no pics of me!

Just finished for the night (8am till 11.30pm not a bad days work) - tail-lights are wired up as well as engine bay - can't see the wiring?? Thats the idea - to make it as sano as possible - and thats why these things take so long!

Oh yeah, rear indicators are on as well. If I get time tomorrow between house work and trip to the coast, may finish up headlight wiring....maybe get onto power and ignition junctions and battery hold down.....well maybe.
Carbs can go back on soon and linkage now that wiring is almost done in the engine bay.

Hopefully start up day won't be too far away - maybe in a few weeks (it will be away for a week or so getting carpets and ragtop as of next weekend).

My camera does not have sound recording but should be able to get some mpegs uploaded - friends have more ritzy cameras than me :P

Well, another big day - just finished, although renovations took far longer than expected as they always do....so didn't get much done. I pretuned carbs and checked things over one last time before bolting them up. HPC'ed manifolds look sweet :thumb

Something that should take half an hour ended up taking about an hour and a half. What a nightmare trying to access the manifold nuts - used CB performance 11mm nuts to make it a little easier....after tightening up the rear three nuts (closest to the back of the car) which took about 20 mins as you can only do about 1/8 of a turn at a time!

After doing all three and tring to start on the forward most nut, I realised that you couldn't get it started as the manifold was now too close too the stud.....so had to undo all other three and start again this time in a different order! Oh joy.

No holes although I thought long and hard over it before paint went on. Depending on how much tuning is required I may just drill holes just large enough to put a screw driver through to get to mixture and air bypass screws - but will see how it goes first!

I got sick ofborrowing a wobble-bar from my local friendly mechanic to get at my Kad manifolds.

What a nightmare of a job they are.

Went and bought a wobble-bar and now need a good quality uni-joint.

Thats right - nothing has had time to get covered in oil, dirt or grease!

Started playing with the battery clamp (aluminium) and mdf surround....

The two long bolts will go through the floor up through the mdf and aluminium (through those two holes). The mdf will be fixed to the battery clamp and supported underneath the fuse block which can be seen here.

Of course the mdf will be tidied up, edge routed (roundover) and painted in body colour to match fuse panel box...and aluminium will be milled (063bug will have to maybe hit your colleague up for another favour!) and polished.

Nothing too exciting tonight - just fiddled around with the battery clamp and surround. Also mounted the power and ignition junction block - having it mounted underneath will help to make the wiring quite tidy.
