I found it hilarious that after you displayed your impressive fabrication skills with the front end that some punter pointed out that the nitrous

Hi fullnoise.
I am the punter that you are talking about. I am sorry if you did not understand my post, I am sure that boostn was not offended by what I wrote.
I wrote it because I could see that the bottle was put there for the picture. I am sure that he also knew that the bonnet would not close with the
bottle in that position and I am sure that, with the fabrication skills that boostn has, it would not be a problem.
I have also remarked on the good ideas that boostn has shown and on his skills as a fabricator.
Great work boostn

Hey guys,
It's all good no stress, lets not start anything. Sometimes it does not come out right when typed out.
I'm having fun slapping this thing together and it makes it better sharing it with you guys and hearing the suggestions and comments.

Hey Boostn,
I have a set of street eliminators w/ 44x37.5 valves and autocraft 1:25 rockers. i haven't had them flowed but they have had some work done on them
by Melbourne Vw Performance? before I bought them. My ports look straight though like your just not as big as the valves aren't like yours.
I have a GT2871R and hoping to run up to 18-20psi but do you think my heads will be able to flow this? I understand its all about breathing and I know
I can force the air in there but will I be able to get it out with 37.5's? Do these heads get really hot on the street?
Keep up the good work!

OH I forgot, When you step up to bigger port sizes it raises the rev range (Comp Eliminators) does this happen with bigger valve sizes? I would think
so but never tested it. I dont really want to rev the crap out of my car was hoping to top off at around 6000 and try to keep it together. Ever used a
Haletch E6X... what do you think?
Thanks again,

OK Heath,
You are correct in saying an engine is just a pump. the more it flows the more power it makes. One of the most important thing is efficiency. An
efficient engine will make power and survive. For starters you always build an engine to suit the head, not the other way around. You need to know what
your heads flow, so you can know what cam to choose, rockers, rods, springs and even crank to use. There is no point in having heads that flow well
@650'' and using a cam that has a .400'' and 230 @ 50 duration. All you are doing is creating a boggy pig for no reason because that port has the
flow moved up the scale. It would drive nicer, have better economy and make better power with a smaller head. Bigger is not always better. Valve size
also changes the head characteristics. Sometimes if you are not happy with the intake Vs exhaust ratio, you can correct it through cam grind or even
rocker ratio.
Boost psi is only a way of measuring air at the manifold. Power is about volume not psi. You can get what ever boost you want that is not the
problem, but what does that mean when the engine is not moving it? When your engine starts moving more volume at less boost you need to go for a
bigger turbo to cope with the volume.
For example, a rotary needs a massive turbo because the engines move so much air. If you could put same amount of volume of air though a VW engine it
would probably equate to something like 80 psi, the fact is that the rotary can move the air and only register 25 psi at the manifold.( just an
example). Each turbo has it's own chart on efficiency and what it's designed for.
Basically Heath flow your heads with the manifolds, select a cam, rods, and springs and find out what size roller you have.
The comps don't run hot on the street my heads run much cooler than stock heads.
Dave would be a good person to talk to about heads.
Hellcraps are a good computer but you need to do a fair bit of tuning.

Finally I got the engine in.
Although the engine and turbo kit were ready, I still had to mess around making brackets and things. Now for the wiring.

Hey Nick.... Noticed you put a bit of effort into keeping the exhaust lengths close.... There are conflicting veiws on this in regards to turbo
engines.... Have you created or witnessed any data to support this?.... I know most of your engine also run the turbo in the engine bay, how as this
arrangement effected engine temps?.... The reason I ask this is because I use my cars in classic rally's and track days as well as daily and long
distance driving, not to mention the odd trip down the quarter. So the idea of getting the turbo out of the engine bay has been playing on my mind....
Been thinking of fitting it up the 'Woolongong Way' and intercooling which is very similar to the WRX arrangement.... Have you guys ever attempted
this arrangement?

I don't like youtube either because you can not save it.
If I do it on photobucket, can people save it?
I got it driving and have been tuning on the street with the laptop. It dives very nicely with plenty down low and spools up quickly because of the
small turbo. EFI draw through feel very different to a carbie.
I will keep you guys posted.
