Nah that was just a little 'wake-up call'. I got my groove back and used some finesse with the grinder last weekend so we're friends again. I was
however paranoid about proper safety equipment!

Bit more progress, little hampered by the wind and my severe lack of experience. But that's why we have the Doc to bail me out! hehehe
Decided to enclose the whole section rather than just adding the bottom needed to weld the outer repair skin on to.
Ren laying the smack-down on the repair to make sure it'll stand up to his serious driving style.

ok Voodoo, but first I need a road worthy, not sure if you have those in the States by the look of some of your rides!
Anyway, is there anything in the world more beautiful than a set of new ATE 1965 type 3 wheel cylinders? (the correct answer would be 'no', for
those of you wanting to know.)
Today was a good day.

sorry rob! Here are some shots of various boring-ish parts of the car. I've realised that I left all the hard stuff til last. Therefore the progress
doesn't look very impressive, but a lot has been done.

The wiring diagrams are helpful but I don't have one for a '65 car. All are for 63 or 67-, which means they all have complex indicator
stalk/ignition lock/dipper/etc...wheras mine just has the basic cast bit of metal with 4 wires coming out. Also previous owners (not ross!) have
changed a lot of the wires, so the colours no longer match up, which is a *&$% when you can't follow the wires to see where they go, because they go
into a loom one colour, and come of the other end another. I'll be getting my 'circuit tester' on this weekend. Yeah I know it's XMAS, but I want
the grand daddy of all presents; a notch that goes and stops.

The new dual circuit/dual reservoir brake system, didn't get any photos of the rest of it before putting the fuel tank back in, damn it. Anyway here
you type 3 owners can see how I've done it anyway.....the 2 lines run along the exact same route as the old single line. It's a long job, especially
when rather than getting new custom shaped lines, you rebend old beetle lines to the shape you need them (dead straight).

Braided brake lines, same price as locally sourced rubber ones, got them from the states. Don't be like me though, support
local industry! Globalisation is bad and stuff:duh

body repair areas, which make me feel a lot better about the car. They just need a bit of grime/dust to match the rest of the paint better. Good
colour match though! The paint dudes did a great job. It's PPG acrylic.

Engine - with new fuel lines/clamps/filters etc...and YES it has oil in it! I'm still not entirely convinced that engines need oil, but.....oh what
the hell I might just use oil to be safe

No I'm not replacing my rear window seal!^^^ If it ain't leaking,
then it's fine. Apparently you can only get cal-look rear window seals for notches at the moment. And if you know otherwise, then don't tell me,
because then I won't have a genuine excuse to not replace it! apart from the fact that it's not leaking....yeah....I'm sticking by that one...

A photo I had to send to my dad who is living in Morocco now. The last thing he told me before he left was basically 'don't buy a vw!' ....he
reckons he spent half his life underneath his kombi's and beetles, and being an electician, I had to tease him with this 'I told you so' shot,
which yes, was badly set up by my co-mechanic Grigor. :blah

Oh and we also replaced some engine seals, which was cool, because it was my first time stripping gear off a type 1 style engine. It was getting dark,
so we had about 20 minutes to strip the carbs/links/tin ware/etc etc..and replace the seals and get it all back together again! It was a 3 man effort,
and a good learning experience. Yes Ruckus, a super-grigs does exist even when the icky icky is a thing of the past. Good to see.

Man I'm proud of Grigs, and glad to know that his super-powers are available without kriptonite!
