The silver is my cousins girlfriend. This was the first time she has ever competed in any form of a motorsport event. On Saturday she had trouble
getting the hang of staging the car with the lights. Hung a few cherries, staged with the back wheels etc etc. Sunday was a different story!! She got
the hang of it really well and reeled off some reaction times that most of us would love to have!! Most of them between .400 and .600 all day which is
why she won the class!!

Hi All,
Another Warwick, another successful VW drag racing weekend. To think that the series is now six years running and only growing is an amazing effort on
everybody's part, drivers, crew and spectators.
As always the weather tried to knock us off our perch, and Saturday was a typical nasty Qld storm, but all time lost was recovered on Sunday and four
rounds of fast and furious competition ended a great day. Congrats to Neil Penboss for taking out the coveted Warwick Top VW Shootout title, and
Courtney Hawker for scoring the Most Driver Points for the 2011 series.
The Warwick Dragway team once again did an amazing job, and working with people such as Jo Sinclair, Chris and John Loy, Peter Slade and crew makes my
task of organising the weekend so much easier.
Mick Motors drag car may not have had the most ideal racing weekend, but their support as major sponsor for the 2011 series allowed the VWs to go
racing. Brad Young and Westside Mufflers also caught a gremlin (maybe there was something in the tent, because David O'Connor also had issues?!), but
again Brad's sponsorship of the series goes a long way to bringing it all together. And there's no show without Rod Penrose and his Performance
Parts Business, who not only helps with the event financially, but also keeps me motivated to run the series each year. Lastly, thanks to the VW clubs
of Victoria, Sydney, Adelaide and Qld for helping with the running of the series.
Another great part of the weekend is the strength of the family atmosphere, with the Allen and Hanson tribes two families that come to mind as avid
and enthusiastic VW racing enthusiasts. If you count each child and young adult as potential drag racers, then there's no end in sight for the series
(I'll also probably be contributing to that - even my little girl wanted to steer the Vee into the staging lanes. Mum is slightly worried).
To the long haul interstate drag racers, especially the Victorians and South Australians (Gringos, Dave O'Connor and team, Adam and Kathleen
Debiasi), thanks for the effort and support. It's not easy these days, and your participation at Warwick was very appreciated.
As most of you know, the series for 2012 starts in Sydney on February 25th. The level of excitement and anticipation about the new 1/4 mile event is
quite outstanding, and the VWMA website will be updated in coming weeks with the itinerary and requirements for racing.
Many businesses have already expressed a desire to help sponsor the 2012 series, so again, I'll be sending out sponsor packs shortly (initially via
email because of impending print deadlines).
Well done everyone and see you on the track in 2012.

No. Sydney has replaced the Portland event but not Warwick.

Thanks Craig for putting on another great event. Six years is a hard slog and it doesn't get any easier year to year...
Special thanks to Team CBB, you guys (and gals) have the best camaraderie and though I've been too busy to be around much this year it always great
to see the team working so well together.
Rod... thanks for the shot! Who says you aren't a "giving kind of guy"? If you can't wait for the magazine let me know your email address.
To everyone that travelled from near or far, it's great to see such support for the event and that it keeps growing.
