So Kim, what did you end up with audio choice - all that reading on caraudioaustralia pay off??
I have changed my entire system - only kept the original amps...changed headunit, sub and front splits!
Give us some details!

no details yet, will be puchasing soon, but have decided to go a little more subdued than the original plan.
the interior looks too good to put the kick panels in, as i dont think they suit the overall theme of the car
still a work in progress.....
are you still going with the kick panels?

Hi, love the colour, the overall look of this car is coming up great. Is the colour a VW one & if so what is it? I've seen pics of early
beetles in similar colours on the net but still trying to tie colour names to photos.
Cant wait till mine is at this stage, it's gonna take years
Nice job!

Yep, will start making them in the next few weeks - front stage seems to be the most important aspect of a system (so the consensus says) so I'll be
keeping them. I'm sure yours will still sound very nice when done! Looking great once again!

Comming along nicely
Kim
Its been great following your car through the stages and seeing the progress, it seems so long ago since we cut the dash out of that wreck of mine.
I've only just looked up this tread and its already taken me back to when I first saw your car in primer ready for the body work to be finished.
It seems funny that my car is on the same rotiserie and its at the same stage as when I first saw yours, Sasha has been doing a great job with your
car (and mine) Now Andy is sorting out the engine side of it ,so the light at the end of the tunnel carn't be far off.
I love the work on the interior the seat material is very close to what I want in the oval it will be nice and comfy with a low wear factor and a none
bum scorcher on a hot summer day to boot. The upholstery stitch work is to a very high standard and matches the colour of the body perfectly.
I keep meaning to gather all my pics up from the early stage of my project and starting a thread up of my own maybe i'll get round to it after easter
sometime.
Keep up the good work I carn't wait to see it at the shows (jamboree?) then hopfully next to my rag roof sometime later in the year.
Kim keep up the good work, Sasha you've done a great job, Andy your doing a great job.
Cheers nIck

yeah, its coming along well nick
when are you gonna show all the stuff that you have already done to yours in a similar post?
its good to see another bug up on the rotisserie getting the full treatment
as for mine, i bought all the stereo gear last weekend, and while i m not quite going to the same extent as the das-look resto, it will still be a
thumping set up.
i have decided not to put the pods in cos the interior looks to good as it is.
my front 'stage' is gonna be made up only of a pair of tweeters, which will hopefully tuck well into the shape of the body and disappear from
sight.
not exactly the same 'frontal audio stage' but will certainly help with the frontal sound imaging
rear is gonna get the full treatment - boxed JL sub, with seperated enclosure for JL two ways, all behind the rear seat. all to be powered by a JL
amp.
then off to the trimmers again for a matching finish on the box, and a few (very minor) changes to the works that have been done
wiring and engine works are continuing....
.... shouldnt be too long now.
as for pics, i m in sydney on business for the next 5 weeks, so will be a while for more pics

and finally, the engine is in:
you can see the header pipes from sharpbuilt in this pic
and here you can see that it really is a tight fit to get these things in and fitting well
thanks again to andrew for all the fiddly bits that are easily overlooked
- spacers to mount the engine at the right height
- seals keeping the heat out of the engine bay
- grinding back the valve covers to fit properly
- removable fasteners to the upright kit
- fibreglass modifications
- modifications to the carb linkages
anyway, thanks to him, heres what it looks like when its done right and the details arent forgotten

and finally some shots of just how tight things are in there
plan is for a 4 into 1 exhaust (which i have seen almost finished today). primaries go along behind the rear apron, muffler next to one of the valve
covers, running back to front, then along to the front, over the gearbox, turn to the back, into a resonator and out.
and the adjustable konis to all four corners

exhaust should be complete in a few days. amazing how a good exhaust gut can fit all the pipes and lengths into such a small space
i am very happy with the ground clearance that i ve got and its all hidden away nicely. no pipes or anything hanging out the back
i am gonna bring it to dotvw, but i m really just looking forward to driving the thing!

Whoo-hooo....awesome stuff Kim. I can empathise with the clearance issues you've experienced getting the type IV to fit! It is all executed very well
and super tidy - big credit to you and those involved in the rebuild.
Well done on a top effort (I can also empathise with just wanting to drive it!)

Love this car, great work. It's really progressed heaps lately, you must be getting close to that light at the end of the tunnel. It all looks to
be coming together really well as far as the overall theme, should be an unreal ride. Keep up the good work

engine specs are very similar to alans with a few minor differences
-1971cc t4. (standard crank, pistons and cylinders)
-balanced and rebuilt by Conte Engines
-2L heads with 1800 valves
-1800 flywheel
-511 cam (i am told that its similar to a porcshe grind, but exact spects unknown).... or is it 411?
-40mm dells with cb update kit
-compufire electronic ignition with twin compufire coils (onto 009)
-sharpbuilt upright kit extensively modified for ease of dismantling and better fit by Andrew at Dub Customs
-headers by sharbuilt
-custom exhaust (4 into 1) by Barney at Hallam Performance
engine was bought of the forum from Brad Connell some 2-3 years ago
engine is running
i m looking forward to getting it tuned and cant wait to drive it
btw, i m not taking credit for the quality of work:
thanks also to Sasha at Delux for the top body and paint and the custom mods
i have done some of the work myself, but time and expertise meant that it was mainly the 'dumb stuff' that i did
thanks for all the kind words guys
