looking forward to seeing the completed exhaust soon.
last time i saw it there was still the resonator to go on. so i wanna see and hear it now that its complete.
next issue is gonna be engineer.
damn.
dunno if i wanna go through the time and expense now or later. i have one possible lead.... through the vwcv

cheers guys....
is still progressing. here are the latest pics of the car now that the exhaust is in. i am very happy with the clearance that i have got with the
exhaust.
i was after something that fitted under the car, was quiet, didnt have a muffler or any signs indicating big exhaust from the rear (definately NOT a
cal look muffler hanging out the back), and no pipes showing.
has been acheived. only minor downside is the poor access to the valve covers, but the exhaust has been built with enough flanges to make it easily
removalble.
anyway, here it is.

as you can see it is a 4 into 1 system, with sharpbuilt headers leading into custom built everything else.
muffler on the left side, piped forward, and up over the gearbox, then out the right, back to the rear, through a resonator and down and out.
will be quiet with a nice note, which is just what i was after. definatley didnt want loud
anyway, here are some more pics that i took when all the wheels were off so that the engineer could give the car the once over.
still a few gremlins and compliance issues to sort out for engineering (damn i hope that i can get the CB dropped spindles backed up by some sort of
confirmation of strength - thats my biggest potention problem for the mo)
anyway, heres some more piccies
going forward into muffler and over gearbox
back out the other side and through the resonator
i will have to upgrade the rear (T1) brakes to the larger T3 brakes following my meeting with the engineer, and the rigorous brake testing that the
car will need to pass.
better to do it now rather than have to do the test twice!

ignition is a compufire dis-ex. basically a 009 without points. wired to the sparkplugs thru a hi-po twin coil pack (one per two cylinders rather than
one per four) that you can see mounted on the fire wall.
looks trick because it hides all the wires at the same time.

Basically Webers / Dels is almost a straight line of down the barrel of the carb into the cylinder. The air box is just taking the inlet away so as
there is a few bends of PVC or something to absorb some of the noise.
Sort of like standing round the corner from the stereo rather then in a direct line to the speaker
BTW
Nice work!
ummm..... by any chance, are you running hydraulic lifters???
Man - is that gunna be a bitch doing the valves!

nope, no hydraulic lifters, just gotta unbolt the flanges from the exhaust to get to the valves.
rhys: the rules are the load of shite. the engineer that i have been talking to has been pretty good. hes just explaining/following the crap that some
pen pusher has written down. not his fault
the best one was the fact that i dont need to run external mirrors!
after upgrading the brakes, brake lines, resevoirs, rear brakes, extra seat belts, plates etc...
... rule book says that i dont need external mirrors. minimal to comply is internal rear mirror.
cant complain though, cost most of the stuff i have done for the right reasons, so i certainly wont be driving without mirrors.
was a good exercise to go through all the details with the engineer and after doing it i think that the car is definately gonna be safer.
apart from that it will be engineered, insurable and better from a resale value too!
damn rules.....
... dont get me started.:puke

yeah - that 'd be pretty cool.
i have seen the posts on your various airbox setups, and they give the engine bay a whole different look.
i will wait and see how noisy my setup is, as this will be my first engine with twin carbs, and i think i m gonna enjoy a little extra noise for a
while!!
in the mean time, my car is not getting any closer to looking like this:
and probably wont for another couple of weeks
oh, well.
only remaining issues are engineers and dyno time to get the carbs jetted right. then its off to vicroads.
and before anyone asks, i m sick of guessing how much longer, cos it always goes slower.
not long now!

Hey dude, just a little something..
On the underneath pic of the bug on the hoist it looks like your axle boots are positioned so the seam is facing upwards, if you can imagine with the
suspension going through its travel that seam is getting bent lengthways..
Its best to put them so the seam is to the side, makes them last longer..
Farkin nice buildup but, I love it.,
.

didnt get much done, but i took some shots anyway, cos i cant help myself
here are the bits that i got back from the chromers a few weeks ago.
got all 4 overriders done.
other bits are the glovebox pull and the chrome strip for the glovebox, yet to go on
