Well new cutch is installed and a big thanks to Jerry at Direct Clutches for quick turn around. Clutch is now a puck set up and has 3000 lb pressure so slippage won't be an issue.

Getting the engine back into the car was an issue. bloody no room and with most stuff hanging or still on motor it was a test of my patience for a while till i had to go then Troy managed to get in by himself by in his words "shaking the shit out of it". He worked till late last night re assembling so hopefully sometime this morning it will be running.

I spoke with Troy this morning.
He was all loaded up for the trip out to Warwick today.

He said he went on a "milk run" this morning and topped it up with 98 octane.

The accelleration is pretty awesome, he said.
Right on 15 psi boost.

Sounds like fun!

Welll it ran great all weekend and it is back home in the comforts of it garage safe and sound.

Troy ran a best of 8.60 at about 85-6MPh from memory.Keep in mind that his car is quite heavy compared to all the gutted beetles he was up against. His car has full interior with the remains of his big stereo and is all steel with all bumpers etc etc. It was his starts that were killing everyone.....

saturday in qualifying he reeled off 3 lights in the 400's and one in the high 500's.

Today in racing he ran a .428, .411, .366(oops) and a .401.

Those efforts got him the most improved trophy this year.

Car will go back to the dyno in the next little while and get the rest of the tune, more boost etc etc.

Then it's off to Willowbank to run some 1/4 mile numbers!!

Great to hear and see it running on the strip finally Troy. Was a pleasure to watch it run.....now I wonder what numbers that engine would run in a gutted beetle ;)

you sure it was getting its 250hp at the track, with a 8.6 and 85mph that doesnt seem right........I'm not questioning the HP, just the relationship with the time.

The dyno sheet I saw was 246.
Perhaps a little high.
Some turbo engines only spike max power for a short time,
so it is possible.

Hard to say what it weighs, but that mph equates to a pertty good number either way.
The car has a lot of extra stuff on and in it...well over 1000kg would be my guess.

i am going to try to take the car this weekend to a public weighbridge to see what she really weighs, i think a few people will be surprised with how heavy the car actually weighs. the car made 246.4hp at the wheels and one of the beetles i ran only had approx 30hp less but only ran .30 faster but with alot less weight anyway i was pleased with the car for the first outing and i didnt break anything.

Good to see and here Troys car over the week-end , getting faster as the event went on .
Many things come into et's like how hard you leave the line , radial street tyre , shift point , revs ,gear box ratio's ,etc
Plus car is set up as a road driving beast not a dragcar .
Craig you better enter text year , Hey !

Don't think Troy left the line with more than 2800RPM on board the whole weekend. didn't want to break tranny first time out. Left tyres at 40psi as he would rather wheel spin than total hoook up. Not to mention car doesn't have full throttle, final tune with more boost and is a big fat heavy biatch!!( the car not the driver haha)

Troy is going to take the car to a weigh bridge to see how heavy it actually is over the weekend if all goes to plan.

in a week or so i will be pulling all the manifolds off, rocker gear out, push rod and the tubes and dangerous is coming up to my place so we can retension the heads now the engine has had some running time and we can fix a few oil leaks from the push rod tubes and reassemble everything. i got the car out on monday as i hasnt moved since warwick and for some reason it is miss firing under any boost, maybe some dead plugs again( i hope ). once its all back together i need to make some changes to the throttle body wheel that the cable pulls on as its only getting 80%. after that is back to the dyno to get the tune finalized as the idle is fairly bad( 2000rpm) which makes it painful to drive at slow speed, maybe a little more boost and see how its goes with the new clutch, hopefully we can get an increase over the 246.4hp it made last time.:punk:

Troy booked the car to go back to dyno on the 12th November. Finish off tune and add 5psi more boost plus fix a few minor issues.

we'll see if it gets finished in time to take it to the Goldy show the following weekend. Troy did tell them that he wanted the car Friday so we'll have to wait and see.....

CAR RAN WELL AT WARWICK BUT WHEN I PULLED IT OUT FOR A QUICK RUN AROUND THE BLOCK A WEEK AFTER WARWICK IT RAN BADLY, BREAKING DOWN ONCE BOOST RISES, DROPING ONTO THREE CYLINDERS. DANGEROUS DAVE CAME UP TO MY PLACE SATURDAY AND WE RETENSIONED THE HEADS, PULLED THE MANIFOLD, FAN HOUSING, ROCKER GEAR AND PUSH RODS OUT AND WE RESELLED THE TUBES AND PUT ALL THE ROCKER GEAR BACK, CHANGED THE PLUGS AND ASSEMBLED IT BACK TOGETHER. I GOT IT RUNNING AGAIN SATURDAY NIGHT BUT NOW THE IDLE SPEED IS AT 3000RPM. AT FIRST I THOUGHT A AIR LEAK BUT I RESET THE THROTTLE BODY AND THE IDLE CAME BACK TO 1100RPM. SO I TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE ONLY TO FIND THE IDLE COME BACK UP AGAIN AND ONCE AGAIN BREAKING DOWN UNDER BOOST. I HAVE THE CAR GOING BACK TO THE DYNO ON THE 12/11/08 TO SORT THESE PROBLEMS OUT AND INCREASING THE BOOST TO 20PSI(HOPEFULLY MAKING APPROX 300HP). I WILL BE ORDERING A TURBO BEANIE THIS WEEK BUT WILL TAKE 3 WEEKS TO MAKE BUT WILL DROP ENGINE BAY TEMPS DOWN HEAPS. HOPEFULLY AFTER THIS VISIT TO THE SHOP IT WILL BE THE LAST FOR A WHILE...HERES HOPING!!

i have currently got the alternator out of the car being fixed as the charge light was still staying on so hopefully that will fix that little problem. i have also fixed the cable guide on the throttle body as it was only getting about 80 percent throttle so we made so changes so it now get a full 100 percent opening. Off to the dyno next week, cant wait to drive that thing with even more horsepower, should be fun!!!!!
