The Wife and I took the Dub out today for a decent drive to put the kays on the new motor..We drove down to Goolwa and had a look at my late
father-in-laws house and had lunch. Last time the VW was down at Goolwa I was putting it on a car trailer to bring to our house after being in storage
for over 7 years!. At least now its moves under its own power..lol.
The car ran faultlessly and the engine just wants to go and go. With all the revs at 100km/hr it makes us think that later on we might go a 5 speed
box.
Anyways heres a few pictures of the beetle down at Goolwa, which is actually where the World Volkswagen Day Cruise finishes up.The wife drove the
beetle most of the way home and loved the motor and the way it drives..Cheers Jason.

too busy doing house mods..lol.
BEFORE...
AND AFTER!!!............
Now we have under-cover parking for our 6 cars..lol.

Dude, I am so jealous. We have 3 cars and only a single garage, and my bug currently takes up twice as much space with thee body still off the pan. I
could have all my stuff under cover with all that space and maybe even have a party!

Ha ha!..When we first bought the house it only had a single carport and no shed at all.My Mazda Rx7 project lived in my mates rumpus room for a year
until we had the rear shed built and could bring it home. So i definately know how you feel!.Luckily my cousin is a builder and I have been his bitch
for the last 5 weeks building this extension. Saved a shitload of money, learnt alot and now have a massive area to park up the cars or use an
entertaining area.We are extemely grateful to have what we have especially after having no shed at all.

Hi 69 bug..The over-riders I bought off a seller on ebay but I never saved him as a seller and his transaction history is long gone.
There are sets available on The Samba as you have probably seen..but some of the over-riders have an extra cut out for an extra thick bumper strip
where as our bumpers (well 69-70) only have black tape through the middle and the over-riders that I have bought have a little raised section in the
middle..so be careful not to buy the wrong ones. There are sets on Samba at the moment in black but chrome pop up now and then.

Not much progress on the Beetle at the moment..'
Was bored today so I mocked up a Sprintstar wheel on the back of the beetle.Soon I plan to have the front beam narrowed and adjusters put in and fit
up the wheels along with fitting up the rear Bilsteins and new rear torsion bars.
There's soo much more to do but on the flipside we are happy that the car is running..

Just a quick update..In the process of buying a 2" Narrowed beam with Swayaway Adjusters and a set of Empi Gasburners off a mate..So soon I will have
wheels on the car and the front and rear suspension sitting the way I want It.
On another note My wife and I finally entered the car in the McLaren Vale Vintage and Classic Day here in Adelaide. The day started out at a winery
Serafinos, then a nice procession down the main street lined with soo many people followed by a get together of all the VWs at a designated winery
(Lazy Ballerina Winery)..Its was an awesome day and can't wait to do the Bay to Birdwood this year..Here's a few pics..cheers Jason

In the process of getting a few more things together.I have a 2" Narrowed front beam organised with sway-a-way style adjusters and 2" dropped
spindles but need to order some shortened Bilsteins from Richard Holzl.Everything for the rear suspension such as bushes, bilsteins and torsion bars
are all in the shed but dont want to bust my arse and fit them just yet..lol.
We also purchased another set of rims besides the Sprinstars. The set of GasBurngers had only been fitted up to a car and driven a couple of times and
the offer was too good to pass up.At the time we bought the Sprintstars the GBs weren't available.I fitted one to the rear to get an idea but will be
running a 205/65/15 on the rear and a 155-175 on the front..heres a couple of pics..

Thanks Bizarre..We definately plan to build this to the same standard if not better. I went to pick up the Gasburner wheels and adjustable beam off of
a mate for the beetle and saw this sitting at his house. We fell in love with the colour and the fact it was a tin top as we have a low over-hang on
our carport and a Pop top would not fit under it.
With production of Kombis coming to an end and not many tin tops around we had to save it...So thats car number 7! ha ha!..
First plan is to sell off our toyota cressida and put that money into the Bay..Happy Kombi owners ..Some people see alot of work..all that I could see was potential and the finished product. That's when you know
you have got the bug!.

Well...what can I say?.. Its been ages since I last posted any progress about the VW.
Well having a child changes priorities and provides massive amounts of distraction!.
Finally with help from a friend the front beam with adjusters/spindles and 2" narrow, was finally put in the beetle.
Along with fitting up the Gasburners with new studs/alloy nuts and Billet Porsche Crest centre caps.
It's finally starting to look the way we want it.
Here's some recent pics of the car from this years Bay to Birdwood run.
Car ran well and is finally run in now. It easily pulled 90mph on the was home with more in it, plus it's still running rich too!.
If only it had a 5 speed..lol.

Nice build mate, I went really tall on the profile on my bug when I had it and it helped with the revs on the freeway, but don't know if you'd fit
any taller/wider on your rims.
Are they 5.5'' or 6'' Think I had 225/65-15 on my 6'' steelies and it was great for the cal look!
It will all be OK in the end, if it's not OK it's not the end!

The Gasburners are 5.5" and would take a 205/65/15..Thats as big as I want to go and bring the revs down a bit when in 4th.I sometimes expect a bit
too much for the beetle but I just have to remember that its an old school cruiser with a bit of poke.
My Mazda that I'm building is supposed to be the horsepower fix..lol
