Hey dude,
I'm not interested in crap like this.
I know Wayne and he is a nice bloke so he can do as he likes.
Besides my full engineered street legal 1500 bug in 1997 ran 11.23 @ 124 mph. So why make waves now?
I have no problem with Wayne, but it would be cool if more people built fast cars like us !!!!

Hi Nick,
Just going through earlier pages in this thread and noticed your using pauter roller tip rockers. I know Dave Butler uses these sometimes too. I
have a couple of questions.
1. Do you run a lash cap with these?
2. I've heard stories of them breaking in highly stressed engines. Is it that mostly due to you guys running 8000+ rpm?
Cheers,

not interested in opening a can of worms as there are too many different opinions on the matter , but too clarify Humpty ,
Wayne's signature represents Australia's fastest STREET REGISTED VW at the 2005 VW nationals , where it was undoubtedly the fastest there . This
represents an air-cooled VW that is engineer approved , street registered and street driven .
If there is anyone out there that can prove that there street registered VW is quicker , then I will change it .
Nicks PRO-STREETER is an amazing car and a real credit to him , but I don't think it is a street registerable vehicle . Maybe Nick can clarify this ?
Maybe it is in Victoria ?
Good luck Nick , and I hope you go 10's real soon..........

Hey Wayne,
Ignor all the crap, I would rather work together and improve the VW scene in AUS. I love what you do keep it up. We will catch up soon.
My Pro streeter is the other car (black one) and that has a raised rear end but still retains spring plates and torsions and shocks. NO ladder
bars.
But this white junka is stock street registered and I have not engineered it yet but is not a problem in Victoria.
I class it as a true streeter, but others might not.
I don't care I do it because I love it..............

Well said Nick. Well done to run those numbers, it's guys like you, Wayne, Dave, Rod and Pete (and the rest!) that inspire newbies to the drag scene
(like me) to get involved.
Now just have to keep saving to get the oval on the strip!

I have the same attitude as you Nick , those who dont consider our modified beetles as streeters are the narrow-minded bunch of people that we have to
encourage to get off their arses and support the Australian VW drag scene , not knock it , and we have to keep on doing what we are doing now because
we enjoy it so much !!
See ya soon.......

Who's knocking it?... Not me... I think both of you guys are a total credit to the VW scene in general and the Fast VW Street Car scene in
particular... It is guys like you two (and others like you) that give peeps like me the imputus to build tough streetcars.... Dave Butler knows where
Im coming from, we've spoken of this before.... I don't knock.... Its all about credit where its due.... And you guys are there in spades.... Wayne
has built himself a rocket and Nick has done it too.... Both are very different machines, doing incredible things.... Major cudos to you both.... And
to fill you in on whats is in the works.... My last car was quick, but my current project will have the potential to pull seriously good numbers.... I
doubt it will get anywhere near its potential or near what you guys are doing (limitations like budget and skill come into play).... Like I said... If
wasn't for you guys and others like you, peeps like me wouldn't have something to aim for... And for the record.... I consider both of your cars to
be streetcars.... Not that that counts for much... Its only my opinion....

I have never had a pauter rocker fail.
I shift this thing as 8600 and the only time I have had a problem is when the lock nut on the cup adjuster came loose and the push rod fell off. My
fault because I didn't hang off them like king kong.

Hey Humpty , these comments were not directed at you , but at the bunch of negative whingers that get on this forum and dont supply the positive imput
that it needs . We just need to encourage them to explore the boundaries rather than sit on the centre-line and say that it cant be done , or
shouldn't be done , etc . Your comments are always valid and reasonable mate .
Hope you get that rocket of your own up and running soon .

Thanks Nick and Wayne... I thought I had said something out of play.... Its not good when that happens and it happens way too easily on forums..... We
have to be very clear about what is said at all times.....
And as for my drive line.... I have all the bits I need to finally build that long awaited stroker... Bugpack Pentroof case (bloody heavy they are!),
84mm Crank, 5.5" H-Beams, CB 044 Wedgies, CroMo this and that.... I wont bore you with the details... But it will be turbo'd, efi'd and
intercooled.... And hopefully it will run!... Then of course we have the transaxle.... DB has been a huge help in researching that particular element
of the car.... As yet I haven't made a purchase in that direction, but now that I have completed my studies, the income is imminent, and the
purchase(s) will eventuate in good time... When it does happen, I will post the build up right on AVD.....

So, this brings me to my next question... Where do I source a set of lash caps to suit my heads with my fancy new 1.3:1 pauter rockers? Should I be
getting anything special in this area... autocraft or something?
I'm using aircooled.net alloy pushrods, luba lifters and the heads have titanium retainers. I'm not looking to rev past about 7500 rpm.
Reub dude! I think with a set of slicks and a turbo upgrade to a GT28RS-350 or a small GT2871 and you'll be well into the 11's. You'll want to
get that gearbox looked at first though.
Cheers,

SUMMER SLAM 2007 at HEATHCOTE
Hey Nick , are you going to run your streeter at the SUMMER SLAM 2007 at Heathcote Raceway on January 13th .
If you are let me know ASAP so that I can submit an entry and I will bring the oval down to have a run .
Imagine how awsome it would look if 2 street beetles could run side by side in the 10's ........... its possible I think .

How cool,
But I read it and it's a full ANDRA event.
Either we pull the turbo's off our cars or we start welding in cages.
Anything quicker than a 11.99 needs a cage.
10.99 and quicker minimum 6 point cage
but I havn't run tens anyway..........

I read the rules for street RWD and you only require a rollover hoop , 2 rear support stays and a side intrusion bar if you run between 10.00 and
10.99 and under 140mph . 11.00 and slower dont require any rollover protection other than an un-modified shell .
If we both run low 11's ( keep the boost down ) then the cars dont require any upgrade mods , other than radial tyres . No slicks and no
conventionals .
You dont have to comply with weight rules for the class unless you want to set records .
You might not have run tens yet .........either have I.........but it wont be long for both of us I'm sure .

where abouts exactly is calder in relation to Melbourne ? Its a long way to go for a single evening of test and tune , but I will give it some thought
. Fuel expenses , accomodation , meals , can be quite costly for just a few runs . We can do that type of racing up here at the WSID on a wednesday or
friday night , and its only an hour away .
Are they going to make us put the car back onto the trailer when it runs below 11.00 ?

Hi Guys from QLD, don't let safety rules scare you from racing at Summer Slam .Ray Box runs the Jamboree , Compact Attack in nsw ,he is try to get a
race series going for sport compact cars in Australia . He is also a volksy guy at heart !
Don't need tech until 10.99 or untill Andra says so for unrego cars ,same for roll cage-10.99 ,4point seat belts are very cheap.
There will be DYO classes and Allmotor as well for cars with carbs.
Check it out on summer slam post.

Hypo. Calder is about 30-35 mins out of melbourne city centre towards baccas marsh. Sounds like it could be a great event. A Friend lives near there
and they have off streets every friday night. Fairly popular.

hey Nick , I went through the rules for STREET RWD category and it states , NO SLICKS / NO NYLON TYRES ........... RADIAL tyres only mate .
I am a little nervous running radials on my oval , however I think I will give it a go . Have been reading a few threads and it looks like 205/70 15
Bridgestone TA's are the go .
Anyone know of any cheap accomodation near Calder ? I still might make the effort to come down , depending on outcome from Summer Slam and finances
permitting .

Radial is a very loose word! theres manufacturers out that make very soft racing tyres.
( Hoosier, toyo tyres, Micky Thompson )check out latest EXtreme street Mag ,full run down on street and strip tyres.
Wayne are you running at heathcote Summer Slam.
Check with Ray Box about slicks and a dail your own class.
