Sounds electrical. I'd be checking earths on the engine to the chassis, battery terminals and power circuits to the computer. Also checking all the sensor wires for throttle, cam angle sensor, and the air and oil temp sensors.

The only reason the ecu will report 23.5psi (full scale I presume) is that either it actually achieved that boost level, or the voltages that the ecu's internal ADC's use to calculate that value were off for some reason. All sensors use a common 5V reference voltage from the ecu, and if something went wrong with the power relating to these sensors it throws the values out for all the sensors.

If it runs fine when idling and driving most of the time but misses and bitches when your on the loud pedal something is moving and a bad connection is causing the ecu to go into an error state. As a result it drops a cylinder for a moment until things return to normal again.

Also, does the fuel map contain approximated fuel deivery values for up to 23.5psi? If it does the faulty sensoring data could simply be causing it to massively over fuel for a moment, which drowns that cylinder out when the electrical glitch hapens. This may be visable on the wideband depending on how long the glitch is occuring for.

aaron managed to get into see matt at burleigh yesterday and tryto see whats happenin.he seems to thinkthere is smething wrong with the ignition system. he said if the ignition is giving problems it will always read lean on the o2 sensor. aaron is going to call in there tomorrow with his laptop which has my program on it and matt will look over it and he may be able to see whats wrong otherwise i will have to take the car to him, wil wait and see. if the car goes to him i will get the tune increased to somewhere around 20psi, looking for that 300hp at the wheels would be nice but will have to wait and see.

Had a simmilar problem in my skyline and found just ONE plug wasn't up to the task of about 6-7000 rpm. (or what ever they rev to, my tacho's broke.) Replaced with standard plugs, all good? might not aply here just puttin it out there? And it doesn't really explain the boost issue though.

Plugs have been checked, cleaned and re gap done. Plus they aren't very old either!! Lucky if car has done 40km with them LOL

Troy is waiting for K Rudd to hand over the 900 big ones so he can take it to another tuner and get it finished off.

Think the only thing he has done on the car in the last 3-4 months was fit the hydraulic handbrake. I'll hit him up for some pics.....

yeah handbrake is in but i need to replace one of the fitting that continues to leak, as for the dyno i booked it in today for the 14 april to get the miss fire fixed and up the boost to somewhere around 20psi. i wil post once i get the car back from there...

Handbrake finally fixed after a few issues with my joins in the rear brake line leaking. Had to replace one fitting and all good now. I decided to turn the hand handle over like a normal handbrake cause while it was up the other way it had to much free play thats only adjustable buy disassembling the handbrake which i really didnt feel like doing. So all working ok now and off to the dyno in a few weeks..

Its good to see another type 3 on here, epsecially with al lthe work done on the engine bay, very similar with what I have in mind, although I am going completely custom on interior and exterior I like the look of yours and it gives me inspiration and hope that one day mine too will look as clean and cut as that, keep up the good work

mate wheres the faith in the trusty vw box, she"ll be right and i promise i will be gentle, well heres hoping, as for v-dubber the only orginal part of my interior is the dash, everthing else has been changed. post up some pics of your car for us to look at...Aaron, i will take it easy on beck, its been so long since she driven her car, i dont wont her to get upset being beaten and take it off the road again for more mods. will hopefully have nothing but good things to say next week when i get the car back.

hey mate my whole car could do with a colour change, type 3 could look good in pink. hey westi, not yellow mate im just use to have problems when it comes to high hp vw engines, you should know all about that!!!

Roll on Tuesday I say!! I'll have fingers, toes and eyes crossed that everything will go smoothly without any more set backs. I want to see it at the track running some nice numbers for fat heavy car.......

well thanks to all those people putting the mockers on me about breaking my gearbox, cause as it happens it broke tonight on the dyno. Oh joy just another thing to spend money on. We fixed the breaking down issue, it was leaking past the injectors under boost, so we made some changes and all was good. Then matt proceeded to adjust the fuel map which made the car run heaps better and fix the idle. Then we started with the power pulls adjusting as we went. Matt first tried 4th gear but was to tall so selected third gear and at 4100rpm and 14psi we found neutral, there was now only 1st,2nd and 4th gear. There was no noise to hear of over the engine noise, you can still select third gear but theres nothing there. So i will be picking the car up tomorrow and bring it home for the start of the ppull down again, im getting good at it now. Will post up some picks once the box is apart.
