I wish I knew exactly - to do things right takes a lot of time (more than expected) and money (more than expected). So the expected completion date is dependent on both factors (availability of free time and free money). I am still planning to have it complete by February for the Dubs by the Pub show...anything before that will be a bonus and a big surprise!

I keep falling into the trap of...."well I've gone this far, may as well do that too.....well I've spent this much thus far, may as well get that too....etc". This is what blows out the time line of a project of this nature. But I am still loving it though and still am very motivated and enthusiastic - luckily I have always been a patient person.

Here is the original rear apron, due to the repro panel having a later style latch catch so had to cut off the original...

Only a tiny bit of filler was required to smooth it all over. Didn't bother filling the bolt holes in case I use them later for a decklid standoff or something like that.

Mounted the monster tach this evening under the dash. Bit of overkill for the application but everyone needs a bit of bling right?

Maxrob wheel just popped on temporarily to see how things are shaping up. Tach angled up slightly for ease of view.

Wheels are replicas made in Italy (can't recall manufacturer). 17x7.5in.

Upright conversion is from Sharpbuilt.

Cheers for the comments.

Yep thats them...to be honest I can't recall exactly how much they were - I bought them from Keith-4-Wheels here in Brisbane. I could probably look in the receipt file to check for cost but I am a little scared to look inside there, I might get depressed.

Finally got a chance to have a bit more of a tinker on the beetle today. Took a deap breath and cut a hole in each quarter panel for the side indicators (repros of golf side indicators etc).

Here is the hole rough cut (used air hacksaw)...then used carbide tip cutting bit to further rough out the hole before a sanding disc to clean up edges.

Surprise surprise...as I expected - what fits in a hardtop doesn't necessarily fit in a ragtop!! This is what happens when you go and change your mind half way through a project and install a ragtop roof section (rollcage will now restrict ragtop movement backwards).

Looks the ducks nuts, but alas, more money probably to reconfigure rollcage to fit...then repowdercoat...then reclearcoat to make it shiny.

This is why project timelines blow out! D'OH.
