Woops - Drop Spindle Query
So my Airkewld package arrived! YAY!
Problem is, I ordered the disc brake drop spindles as I have a set of disks for my bug, catch is I'm pretty sure these disks fit onto drum spindles
 I tried slipinf one of the disks onto the spindle and its a no go,
bearings are too big.
My question is, do I need to go and buy some drum drop spindles, or can I just get bearings that have a smaller internal Diameter to match the spindle
I have?

Hey Johnny,
Check to see if your brake calipers will bolt onto the spindles. If they do, go buy some bearings and off you go. If the calipers don't fit you will
have to either buy different calipers or spindles.

I think the inner bearing can be changed to fit either a ball joint spindle or a link pin spindle, the outer bearing od is different, i think the
bearing bore is machined on the rotor to suit a bearing that fits a link pin spindle, you could just press a stepped sleave into the outer bearing
bore or see if you can get a bearing to suit the current bore and ball joint spindle diameter.

Unless otherwise stated in the product blurb I think you'll find that the std VW caliper will fit the dropped spindle.
As for the bearings do what the others said as there is a vast range of sizes for taper bearings

I didnt pick up on it when I ordered (have since looked and found it) airkewld do mention that the spindles will pretty much only fit their disk brake
kits...
No huge biggie though if its just a case of different bearings.

So, calipers dont fix to the spindles
Looking at Wilwood calipers now, thinking two piston calipers (around $130 or so each). Just have to try and match something up with the disks I have
now.
such a headache from something I though I was doing right

well before you go looking for the calipers I'd be making sure the discs you have will fit the spindles with correct bearings and then you'll be
able to measure things for getting the correct caliper

did abit of digging and I'm pretty sure that this is the disk brake kit I have, so an easy out may be just trying to find some Empi disk brake drop
spindles and see if that saves me. haha.
