Deck Lid spring problem (weak).
Hi Guys
I have a '67 beetle with what seems like a very weak deck lid spring as it does not keep the lid open. It is a 2 piece spring that is probably a
third party aftermarket. It looks as though it is fitted correctly.
I want to know if it is possible to fit an earlier single piece deck lid spring as I seem to remember these as being much stronger.
Thanks for your help
Regards
Greg

I would have thought that either one would have worked...?
as they are in the same place..
seems the late ones 68> must be in a slightly different place
if the deck comes down...
as they do really flip up the deck lids...
You can buy chromed ones too..

Is the spring fitted in the correct holes in the lid? It should have ends in the two holes nearest the top edge of the lid.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

I have just purchased the car and from what I understand, the spring has always been "weak".
The car is the Liquid Blue 1967 that was completed by Stenguns in 2009 and I think the 2 piece spring is an afternarket chrome unit.
