Awsesome Powder Coating in the USA

Hi Guys

I'm just about to pull out my engine so that I can see what bits of tinware are missing so that I can start to address the overheating issue that I have (refer to my previous thread here : http://forums.aussieveedubbers.com/viewtopic.php?tid=100629 ).

After some snooping around I found this guy in the USA, Awesome Powder Coating ( http://awesomepowdercoat.com/ ).

I have had numerous emails with him and he really seems to know his stuff.

Has anybody purchased anything from him?

Regards
Greg

Greg,

If your just getting bits and pieces of tinware from them it can't be worth the shipping going on VW060's post.

I'd be going down to VVDS in campsie for some help first. With that said I am considering ordered their thermostat flaps etc because that is just SOOOO hard to come by in good nik

Cheers
Shaun

Better off looking around for genuine old tin and having it blasted and powder coated here.

Aftermarket tin fits like crap and the paint ain't great so it'd need to be blasted and re-coated anyway if you want it too last.

The guy in America may work out more economical in the long run of you get quotes for the other methods done in Australia I just mentioned.

Shipping from USA ain't that bad so long as the company isn't charging a fair profit on top of the correct postage price. This I know from sending stuff direct from USA myself :)

Thanks for the feedback guys.

I am really looking for the simplest and most complete system that I can get so that I don't waste anytime mucking around trying to get stuff to work and/or fit properly.

My understanding is that if you can get a complete set of tinware with all of the deflectors, flaps, thermostat etc and have it fitted correctly then you have a great cooling system for the VW engine.

I'll keep you all posted.

You have to fit the tin before you powder coat it, other wise you will run the chance of damageing it when you try to make it fit.

Yep, I'm taking my time with all of this as I really only want to do it once and once only :)
