Hi
Dont fool with the popo in Vic, they will shoot you.
I was driving my sons bug to a Friday night VW get together. I took off from some lights a liitle quick, didn't speed, I needed to get in front some
traffic before a merge.
An under cover Falcon came charging through the traffic and procceeded to gode me into racing him, too old to get sucked into that game. I could tell
it was an undercover cop because no normal car has window tint that dark and it had a massive ariel at the back of the car.
I outsmatred him in traffic a few times and he had to break the law on these occasions to keep up with me, driving in bus lanes and speeding. Try
driving a modified Skyline for attention from the popo.

My eldest son had an unmarked police car right up his 'jaxxy' shortly after he passed his test, it was at night and all he could see was that there
were two guys in the car up his arse, so he didn't want to stop (I'd slam my brakes on in that situation if the driver was that stupid to drive so
close!) being on his own and they kept right up his arse, anyway he went through a stop sign (remember this is night time so he could see there were no
headlights from oncoming cars) and that was when they nicked him. His word against two coppers - no contest, me on the other hand I would have loved
it for a copper to run into the back of me, my neck would be hurting before it even happened

Yea, heaps of stories. My oval has straight through fishtail pipes off a old motorbike. Copper pulled me up and got up me for being too loud. I asked
him how he knew it was too loud? He said he couldn't hear his radio cause of the noise my car was making. I then asked him what are the regulations
for a cars noise emissions. He proceeded to say something about ADR s and compliance plates. I told him since this car was manufactured in 1955 and
compliance plates didn't come out til the late 60s there doesn't seem to be any regulations governing the emissions of this car. He gave me two
weeks to rectify the problem, saying he will defect my car if he sees it after that time with said exhausts still on it. That was about four years ago
and I still have the same pipes on my car!
Another time copper followed me very closely and I pulled into my driveway. When I got out to open the gate a female copper runs across the road and
asked me if I lived here. When I asked why what the problem, she said just answer the question. Do you reside here? I said yes. She went back and got
in the cop car,I followed and asked again whats the problem, she said nothing, and drove away.
If anyone knows if there is something in the rules that gets you off if your in your driveway let me know?

If you are in your driveway I think the rules change a little - private property, rights of entry and all that as opposed to public road where road
regulations / laws govern.
At least that's what I think is th case,
I've only ever once had a run in with the cops - a surprise give my cars and habits (converted RS liberty, V8 kombi, bright red Baja with cannons
etcetera ), that one got me an 'undue and excessive noise' ticket.....

About a week ago I was driving down and 80KM/h stretch of Single lane road with a couple of double lane round abouts along it.
The car in front of me (I Should have been smarter, it was an Aurion) was doing 60 in the 80 zone so i moved into the outside lane to overtake on the
roundabout.
The Aurion started drifting into my lane and was about a foot over the line before I got on the horn, gave him the finger and stood on the pedal to
get around him before we collided. (this was in my Xr6)
anyway I immediately stopped accellerating as I got around the car and was still under the speed limit.
Flashing lights in the rear view mirror.
I pull over and the Cop asks me what the deal was. I explained that road rage wasnt really my thing but that he was drifting fast over the line and I
had to get around him.
He flat out lies and tells me that he wasn't in my lane and I had no reason for my actions, takes my license and asks me if I have any prior traffic
history. (Just a couple of small speeding fines)
Goes back to his car, runs my plates and checks my license, finds nothing of course and comes back saying even his partner agreed that he was in his
lane.
I then posed the question to him "Why would I honk my horn, step on the Gas and give the finger to a complete stranger for no reason?" To which he
had no answer to.
He gave me a bit of a lecture about traffic safety and giving the finger to a police officer could lead to a notice to appear in court. Which of
course would never fly in court as he was plain clothes and in no way was me giving him the finger any more of an intentional law breaking act that me
giving a general citizen the finger. I was a quietly thinking about how if it went to court that his dash cam would prove him a liar in front of a
judge anyway but I kept my mouth shut. Copped the warning and drove away.
I am on pretty good terms with a lot of Cops around Mooloolaba/Maroochydore/Kawana area from Managing Hotels and Nightclubs in the area but this guy
was a different breed.
I would have understood a lecture about road rage and giving the finger etc after he realised that he had almost caused an accident unknowingly. But a
full on denial of guilt was quite pig-headed (excuse my Pun)

I was driving about 11pm on a St night in my fully legit '64 Holden street machine. I had my wife and two kids following behind me in the stock '70
Beetle. I get a cop car jump inbetween us in an 80kph zone and pull me over. My wife abandons me and drives on. The cop asks why I took off at the
lights so fast. When I asked why he had to pull in front of my Beetle that is one of the 10 slowest cars ever made, it is obvious I am driving slow.
He proceeds with saying he can smell burnout smoke. I basically said he needs to get on to more important things on a Friday night, I do burnouts at
off road driving venues and drive at less than 80kph in 80kph zones

Had a run in a couple of years ago with an Aurion that cut me off in traffic as was coming away from a set of lights... 3 lane road, 70kmh speed limit
and since I was coming up on him in the left lane I moved across into the 2nd lane (after the lights), then Aurion dawdled across in front of me, so I
went across to the 3rd lane to only be cut me off by Aurion moving in front of me again when with only a few feet gap.
I wasn't speeding or anything like that or even accelerating hard (hell, I drive a red HSV so don't want to risk standing out)... Aurion driver just
don't think looked or if he did he didn't care.
I stood on the anchors to avoid the accident and hit the horn. No finger or anything, and when Aurion pulled into the right turn lane for Macca's I
just shook my head at the two young guys in it who were smirking as I trundled past.
Sure enough - hundred meters down the road Aurion comes screaming up behind with grill lights on... pull over into side street and the detective
driving accuses me of road raging him !!!

What the - you cut me off and I had to stand on brakes to avoid an accident... I wasn't happy, but all I did was sound horn and shake my head...
you're basically road raging me by pulling me over !!!
Interesting discussion for a few minutes... I was polite but stood my ground, and my license comes up nice and clean of course. With the detective
getting more and more agro, dropping a few F and S bombs etc. his traffic cop mate passenger basically didn't decided wasn't a good situation and
pulled him back from it.
Didn't even try giving me a warning... not that I think you can be warned for avoiding an accident ?
Think was just the guy a bit edgy from almost having an accident in a D's while car on a Macca's run... something I bet his superior wouldn't have
been happy about !!!

It's no wonder so many people are driving around with dash cams now.
Like that ex cop in qld with the road rage incident on today tonight and youtube a few months back.
no one would have believed that happened if it wasnt all caught on camera.
Imagine some of the stuff that you could catch on video
Im tempted to get one for my cars, the amount of near misses I have with dumb Roos jumping in front of me at night driving home would frighten alot of
people and even just dickheads I seem to strike when out in the bug.
They hear it and just wanna race or drive like idiots cos they just dont want to have an old VW on their tail.

in Russia dash cams are a must, you are on your own when it comes to driving there so all the drivers fit them to cover them selves.
great idea!
there are heaps of good crash vids on youtube, 90% from Russia.

well haven't had issues with the VW; but I got a ticket on my push bike the other day. The cops were having a "blitz" on a stop sign near the story
bridge. me and about 12 other cyclists were pulled up and getting a ticket for $110 because we all never came to a complete stop!
This is at the base of a fairly steep hill on Ivory Lane if anyone knows it just at the start of the riverside bike path.

What? I am not a fan of cyclists being two abreast in cycle lanes and one in the road lane. Great Ocean Road Vic. However getting a $110 fine for not
fully stopping is BS. What would they don if you rode on. No number plate.

what? I didn't even know you could get finned on a bike for stuff like that?
The only time I ever went to town I forgot my helmet and I ride one block and got caught, bad luck ey, they didn't fine my though, just warned me and
let me go.
basics bike rules like helmet, and lights at night yes, but when I ride I do what ever within safe limits and never get hassled. I call that bs what
they did there.

Bicycles are simply treated as a vehicle under the traffic act, subject to all the same rules etc as cars/trucks. Only difference is the specific
laws about being able to ride two abreast and also ride on the footpath. It's pretty much the same in most states, although only Qld and one other
actually specifically allow bicycles on footpaths. Don't know how much the latter is enforced elsewhere, wouldn't be popular pulling over Mum, Dad
and the kids on their Sunday afternoon ride.
I'm a cyclist, saw a post about the ivory st blitz on a cycling forum. I think I know the spot you are talking about, it would be quite tricky
unclipping pedals and coming to a complete stop there. I guess rules are rules, but you'd think there would be more useful stuff for them to do.....

Just because you are on a bike doesn't mean you do not need to obey the road rules. If it is a stop sign, then you are supposed to stop. It is
attitudes like that make other road users frustrated. I say bring in registration for bikes so they can be identified for any traffic
infringements.

I know that street! Riding up it is an awesome leg buster. I'd hand my bike to the cop, tell him ride to the top, come down the same speed, then to a
complete stop then continue without stacking it. Then ill wear the fine. It's seriously steep! Oh and joins onto a 99% unused road currently.

very hard to find a reasonable one anymore, there new job is to gather revenue, to pay for the system/crime they have no control over. my old
neighbour got booked doin 60 down a hill in a 50 zone..., i hate to get behind him because he is usually always slower than the limit.... the police
could check that because of his driving record, but they only check if there is a chance they could get u for something else, but that matters not

I'll be sure to write to the govt to get all the children on push bikes registered so they can be fined too!
The thing is I could have flown down the footpath next to the road dodging pedestrians and not stopped at all and it would be fine....
Totally agree; stop means stop. But how many times do your wheels come to a complete stop at a stop sign in an automobile?

I personally find the best way to keep out of trouble with Mr. Plod is to be highly vigilant to not give them ammunition to start strife.
Yes it distracts from what you are doing and steals attention away from more important things (like not running over little Johnny as he chases his
basket ball on the street), but it works.
If you don't speed and ensure you come to a complete hault at every stop sign, they can't book ya for it. And you find at the end of the day, those
extra KPH or few seconds saved by not stopping at a stop sign only give you a couple minutes advantage in travel time anyway, and thus aren't worth
the risk of a hefty fine.
None the less, if they wanna arse-rape and be unjust they will, but in honesty, it took me a while to shake off the discrimination towards them but
its only a minority that are tools. Here is my personal sob story, I went through an orange light whilst with my little brother to go pick up milk for
my mother from ALDI, got done for it ($300 fine), had my extra driving lights on in street-lit streets ($100) and driving a defect vehicle ($60)
because of cracked parking light, so a sum of $460, 4 points, a week before xmas on a uni student budget, and I hadn't done Christmas shopping yet
but as a result all present purchase plans were canned. That was a cold blow... If i didn't give them the ammunition of the parking light and driving
lights on street lit streets (which i should have known wasn't legal) then it would have been a cheaper evening.
It didn't stop there either... Due to the financial blow, the car's head gasket/ cronic overheating issue could never be addressed, so rather than
repairing and to get out of the defect inspection date in Jan, i had to deregister it. Which means i didn't get stung just short of half a grand of
fines, but my independence went down the tubes, which would have gone anyway with the screwed car engine, but came sooner than it needed.
Merry F*@king Christmas!
