After torching a cylinder head big time in the second time trial at Round 1, I used my trusty Street Eliminators for Round 2 on Saturday.
Unfortunately, an intake leak plagued me all day (over 1500 RPM idle along with AFR's between 12.5 to 19.7 - super lean) which caused erratic ET's
(12.002 to 12.128 in time trials) as well as a loose cylinder head (sounded like a stocker with loose heads))
Here is a lesson for (young?) players - Don't try to burn down an old VW bloke on the start line!!!!!. My opponent tried it in the 1st round and it
resulted in a .106 second reaction time for him and a .014 second reaction time for me. I lost the race with a bogging down 1.911 60' but I am more
than happy with the run and the message that was sent to my fellow racers.
Summary times for the meeting are
Best ET - 12.002
Best mph - 112.31
Best Reaction - .014 (ran .015 in the 1st time trial also)
The Nitro Champs are coming up, so I hope to see as many of you coming out and hanging around the VW's as there are spectators hanging around the
V8's
As I was concentrating on my issues, I don't know any other performances of the others entered - honest!!

Comeon guys, this secret squirrel thing is getting a bit old isnt it???????Just because he dosnt tell you every time he changes his undies dosent make
him a secret squirrel. I know of a few other front running VW drag racers on here doing BIG things at the moment but arnt publicising it. Its just
there way. At the end of the day the numbers do the talking, and some of the loudest talkers actually have no numbers at all!!!!!!
Thsnks for the update Henry. alway look forward to hearimg how you went.
Ps. I do belive i have burnt an old vw bloke once or twice!!!!

Thanks Ben, I have been saying the same thing about racers divulging their performance / development for years. The guys that actually drag race, know
how hard it is to present a competetive vehicle to race, especially in the big arena of open (to all makes) meetings - turbo, blown or normally
aspirated, it doesn't matter, it's bloody hard. What looks so easy from the outside is a result of lots of thinking, frustration, lots of
development, not to mention money and (in my case), lots of failures.
As an example, I've been through over 12 different clutch plate materials alone in my current car
The quiet ones are not rude or anti social, they are just more interested in doing it and getting it right than talking about it
For me, very often, I don't feel like plastering my exploits (including failures like 1st round losses) for the world wide web to see - but I am
happy talking one on one to anyone interested if it spurs on a future racer
Let the "open" racers divulge and discuss but let the quiet ones just get on with the job - Respect!!
As to burning an old VW bloke, winning a race against him - yes, burning him? - doubt it!!

What is SO SAD is that an talented individual is put down on a public forum that he doesn't frequent because he is to busy balancing a successful
business with a family and his desire to develope his car as well as countless other cars. There's no secrets to mike if you ask mike anything he
will tell you what ever you want to know and then some but you will have to have your running shoes on because he is on the run 24/7. Forums are great
but don't put someone down because they don't share the same desire for forums as us.

You guys are all jumping the gun as usual , who is putting anyone down . Not ME !!!!!!!!!
SO SAD , that no one can stand up and let other racers know , whats happpening with fellow racers and events ( Sydney).
All we ask is how you guys went ( slow , fast , safe , out racing , what ever )
A Forum open to anyone to make a comment , It doesn't have to be the owner , racer or who ever .
Mike Kristen 13.939 / 77.12 mph ( must had a problem I guess)
Round 1 , dail in - 10.99 , ran 18.846 et at 136.48 mph ( woo , good one ) Loss..
Glen Willetts , 9.688 et - 137.93 ( chev 383)
Round 1 , dail in 9.70 , ran 9.658 at 141 mph , Loss ( dam brake out )
Thanks

As a FINAL footnote to these comments, the internet and "social media" has given the general public (and enthusiasts) a much more public access into
one's personal life and in some cases, somewhat compels replies / answers from people that would not normally reply.
This can be for a number of reasons including a belief or implication they are unsociable, ignorant, rude or elite if they don't.
As an example, the reply that I gave on this forum as to my performance at the Drags on Saturday, I would not normally give without some provoking for
a number of reasons. However, friends that I choose to inform of my performance, I (note I ) contact and inform.
If anyone else that I forgot to contact wants to know how I went, CONTACTS ME and asks "how did you go at the Drags?"
However, there have been other instances when I attended the Drags, I have willingly let the public know how I went. This was MY choice
Sometimes, I want to know how other friends went at various Drag Meetings, I just ring or text them and ask them!!! (wow, that's different!)
If anyone else wants to know how I went, as Ian and Pete pointed out, the results are available on the same internet that can imply our arrogance or
rudeness.
Again, I know I have said it before in other posts, but I ask everyone that reads this, please respect the privacy of the individual that races for
THEIR OWN ENJOYMENT and give THEM the choice of making their exploits public.
Just as everyone "has the right (I believe privelidge) to know", I also have the right to not answer without being deemed a social outcast

My comment has nothing to do with the drags at Sydney, apart from hoping everyone there had a wow of a time laughing and joking with mates, scratching
their heads between runs looking at the weather stations and their time cards, getting sunburnt and paying $6 for chips.
Simon over here runs his little turbo POS here occasionally, and so would get HEAPS of positive comments and smiles. There is also a guy at the 'Plex
running a nice dk red V8 Bug in National meets, but that's been it for DECADES. That's like, shit, HOW LONG?!?!?!
Bugger me, I still get asked when I'm in the pits when I'm going to bring back my little blue baja to the track again.
I had that at Ravenswood.
And it was just a streeter!!!!
THAT'S how much we see ACVWs on the track here.
3 race cars?!?!?!?!?! Jeez I wish.
Well done to ALL the VW racers. It's hard enough getting a decent consistent package together, to do it with a veteran car is outstanding.

Woah talking about getting blown out of proportion!! 'Secret squirrel' isn't implied to be any one person eg Mike K as some of you have jumped to
that conclusion and have totally missed the point and the context of which the post was made!! What WAS implied was did anybody go and watch and have
sniff around to see how everyone went!!!!!! And to those who raced how did your car perform and did it do what you wanted it to do? Results only
tell you one side of the story!! I guess that quite a few of what I would consider the regular drag racing competitors who post on here(looking at you
Henry!!) about each outing and give a lot of info about their cars and their driving performance and conditions is a valuable tool and source of info
to those of us who aspire or are building cars to do what you do!!
Sharing info is what will make the volksy drag scene grow in numbers and encourage new comers to have a go as well? I know I wouldn't be a big
supporter and occasional competitor is weren't for guys like Pete Page,Dangerous, Rod Penrose and the crew from WPVW sharing info at and away from
the track.

So did secret squirrel go to the track and get some numbers??
"SO SAID"
Brendon and Pete I fail to see how this post and many other previous posts is not an attempt to label me as a "Secret Squirrel". There is no one
else in this post you could be talking about.
Apart from the facts as Shane (thankyou) outlined above, I don't see the need to notify the forum of all of the somewhat left of centre ideas I come
up and wish to test.
There are more than enough people both educated and non on this forum to do that for you.
I have never in the past or plan in the future to hide or not share any of my hard earnt knowledge as I think you would find through others on this
forum both inside the CBB camp and outside.
Pete thank you for sharing my disappointing times achieved over the weekend.
As I was only out to TEST on the weekend I fail to see the any reason to report anything at all.
The data I achieved over the week end has confirmed my Dyno testing and from this I will be able to make the changes to my manifold to get the results
I am chasing in the not too distant future.
Anyhow maybe now you can put this stupid childish "Secret Squirrel" business to bed and keep things in CONTEXT as you put it guys.
Mike.
