front fender problem
hey everyone,
ive a 1970 beetle and after i fitted drop spindles, the left front tyre starting rubbing on the fender. i had done some research prior to fitting the
drop spindles. i knew that the track would widen and that rubbing would be an issue.
however, only the left front is rubbing.
so i measured the fenders and found that the right fender is slightly wider than the left... hence the left rubbing...
could it be that the previous owner had a later model fender fitted? if so, from what year would be from? i know that the super beetle fender wont
work...
has anybody had any similiar problems?

probably a non genuine guard/fender..
the early guards with sloping headlamps fit the late model NON supers..
maybe they are just different brands..of guards..??
or Most likely, one has been repaired and is wider or narrower..
most cars have had the guards replaced at some time..
have You checked the distance from the tyre to the front suspension or chassis to see if its the problem..
I replaced My front end last year, My LHS front tyre used to hit the guard edge also when turning and hitting a bump at the same time
My front was lowered at the time.. problem seemed to be when the adjusters were welded in the front suspension.. no problems now..
cheers
