Numbers??
Mate of mine just bought a Fibrefab beach buggy and from the fotos (he knows less than me about VW's!!) it looks like a type 3 pancake engine. He
sent me the following numbers to see if I can shed some light on what it is built on. The engine number is P H X 314 with the H laying on its side.
The chassis No 3714092.
The engine number doesn t look like anything Ive ever seen so I am looking for some clues as to what they might be off. I have checked out the Samba
and it doesnt help a lot.

Not a VW engine number, that's for sure. Where is the number stamped as a type 3 engine number is stamped on the top of thwe case near the parting
line where as type 1 and 2 is under the gennie stand.

Yeah thought so mate. Will get him to go and have another look. I thought perhaps the X may have signified an exchange engine but maybe not.
