WTD: VIC - Non-Std seats to suit 74 Super Beetle.
I'm tired of my faulty original front seats and I'm looking for something to replace them. I thought I'd see if anyone has a set lying around?
Must have tilt for rear seat access.
Black, grey or charcoal trim, vynil or cloth. Must be in good nick but not expecting perfection! No winged race style buckets, but late Jap car or
Recaro style is fine.
Will spend up to around $300 for the right seats.
Thanks,
Brett.

I have full brand new TMI front and rear seats on two rails in black basket weave.
I also have TMI black door card set still in the box and black roof lining.
All brand new.

All PM's replied. Sorry, I should have been more specific. Looking for something more comfortable than the stock seats as Olive is my daily car.
My ideal would be MX5 seats, as they should fit and won't look out of place once a set of covers are over them. But I certainly would not say no to
Recaros, SAAS, Golf GTi seats or equivalent.
Cheers,
Brett.

Thanks, but blue and black would not really suit a green car.
On another forum I've been offered 95 Swift GTi or R34 Skyline GTT seats. The Swift seats should go in okay. The Skyline look like Recaros but may
be too wide.

Its hard finding seats that are a good width for a bug.
Nearly all those racing buckets around have the wings on the headrest area which touch each other in the middle and the door glass/pillars on the
outside.
Also bottom width is important, you don't want to be fishing down the back of a couch for coins trying to apply the handbrake.
small jap 2 door coupes are good sources for seats.
I've got Gen5 Celica seats in mine and love them.

The Mini Shitbox Rally car I half own now has the pair of Corolla Levin AE111 20v seats in it that were originally intended for my Beetle. They are
50cm wide and only just fitted in that car. But they were a heck of a lot more comfortable than standard Mini pews.
The Suzi GTi seats are probably the go. I will take a look on the weekend.

If you look at my members ride post, I originally had Sukuki GTi seats.
They are not too bad, but they do have semi wings on the head rest
Certainly comfy, just not old skool Recaro
Also have a look at E36 BMW. They are either Recaro or copies.
They are also quite common

Hi,
I tried to find your build thread Bizarre, but I could not find it?
Early GTi seats do have the wings. Late GTi seats (Mk111?) don't have the wings. They look like this:

Whatever seats I end up with, eventually I will have them and the back seat retrimmed anyway. But Olive is going to need some rust work before that
happens. Both rear pillars and the front quarter seam are starting to look a bit ugly.
Cheers,
Brett.

Hi
I have Honda Prelude buckets in my sons 74 bug, love them.
They are a good fit size wise but they need a few brackets made up to fit a bug.

Yep, that worked, thanks.
I like the Martini Olive with black Spyders look.
The GTi seats look like they fit okay, although the Recaros are much cooler.
Hmmm, I might grab the GTi seats anyway. They are very cheap, so they will do until some Recaros land in my lap.

I grabbed the Suzuki GTi seat. It looks like they will fit okay.
Meanwhile the seller of the Recaro seats has relisted them again - with a $500 start. Maybe he should change his eBay name to "Shill bidders are
us!"
