Antone installed a flamethrower vac advance dizzy and coil on a 1600.
any thoughts would be appreciated

Yep.
Fitted a couple of them.
Good stuff.
Best to carry a spare dissy, though.
Those modules can and do die without warning.

reckon you'd be better off going with a 123 dizzy. YOu can fit a high power coil if you want with these but standalone they drive very nicely.

I've got 4 VW friends in the UK that have them fitted and driven them myself so know they work well.
Vintage Speed UK is where I've seen them and works out about $100 cheaper than buying inside Oz including postage.
123 dizzy Oz is the Oz supplier.

I have run one for 3 years with only one issue - too much vacuum will blow the vac advance pot on the SVDA dizzy. My new PICT34 did this on my 1600
twin port so i ran sans vacuum adv for quite a while
I've just moved the coil and dissie (with a new vacuum pot) onto my new 1914 engine with dual IDF 40s, and the pertronix pair work a treat
I love the points always being correct and NEVER pitted.
