HD Berg Valve Springs in Mild 1776?
I am building a mild 1776 with DP heads that have been cleaned up and the manifolds matched. Carb will be a 40DCN Weber, lightened flywheel and
Vintage Speed exhaust.
Cam is a Wade 149 (regrind). I will be using 1.25 ratio rockers.
Question is should I use HD Berg valve springs (125lbs at 1.5" and 225lbs at 1") or stick with stock vale springs (126lbs at 1.22")? Any help
appreciated!

Gday.
I looked through my Wade cams list and can't find that grind number, obviously they have WAY more than on my old list though!
What are the specs on that grind?

Not sure on the specs but it is a very mild grind based on a Porsche 90 cam as I undersstand. I had the cam ground years ago and cannot find the specs

I can list what I was going to use in my motor if you like ( it WILL happen eventually.......), maybe others with more experience than me can go from there perhaps, but it will give you a starting point to
consider.
My cam has 270* advertised, 234*@.050", .330" on the intake lobe, used with 1.4 rockers to yank the valves up to give .462" lift off the seat.
Valves/collets/retainers will be quite a bit lighter than stock (parts not even ordered yet though!) and lighter CB lifters too. I'll be using approx
120lbs on the seat and 215lbs over the nose to go up to the planned 5500rpm limiter.
It would seem to me that your Berg HD singles would be fine, but as I said, others with better knowledge (Mat Berry, Rod Penrose, etc) are a phone
call away to double check.

I had a similar engine (1776, W100, dual Dels) and needed HD single valve springs. Its more about how hard you want to rev it.
I have no sympathy for my car, only the wallet that pays for it!

I'd be using the HD too, rate of rpm increase is what does it, and with 1.25 no question. my 2c
