often the case not the pulley, and if it's a daily, a steel hub pulley is best. If the case is worn, you might need to convert it to a sand seal

A leak around the pulley can also be due to crankcase pressure buildup.
Do you have all the appropriate crank case breathing in place?

Hi
there isn't a seal there
just an oil slinger.. plus a thread that takes the oil back into the engine.. so there is a gap there..
they don't usually leak if you have a breather hose or pipe from the oil filler.. etc..[standard engine]
see the original generator/alternator stand and the pipe that goes down under the tinware plus a hose that goes to the air cleaner... these take the
fumes out of the crankcase....
I have a hose going to the air cleaner and under the engine.
Non original type engines often have vents in the tappet covers and a breather box...
every time You get to a corner and take your foot off the accelerator .. You have back pressure in the crankcase...
if it cannot get out... then oil will come out of wherever it can... crankshaft pulley hole, dipstick etc...
so, You need a breather pipe or hose for the crankcase...
to release that pressure...
