Buying Narva semi sealed headlights $$$ ohch

So I've ordered some headlight buckets narva part number 72190 to change my 68 original headlights to semi sealed and the best light I can find is the narva one that while being flat seems to have the nicest look compared to the original. Part number 72036. Problem they are 60 bucks each!
I could buy the headlight conversion kit for $126 72038 or 72040, they come with 55/60 or 55/100 respectively. But all help so far says don't overload on globes and buy 55/60 but in a plus 120 globe. Another $70 odd dollars.

Does anyone else have a source to buy these 7" headlights in a cheaper manner.
There is a 72038 kit that has a smooth glass front and I think that detracts from the original too much.

Cheers aaron

I use the "crystal" 7" headlights, like these........
http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR4.TRC1.A0.H0....

Then I try to find these H4 55/60 globes in Plus60........

I've found these globes to work the best out of the "Plus" range from different manufacturers.

My advice is don't skimp on the inserts or bulbs, I fitted Hella ones to my sons bug after having used them in 2 other Beetles, they are still going strong, cry once but buy good stuff.

This X3.

You get what you pay for with headlights.
If its only a city car with minimal night driving then you can get away with cheaper headlights but I have tried out a lot of different inserts in mine and the German Hellas in there now are infinitely better than all the others and they look exactly like stock 74+ Beetle/Kombi/Golf headlights.

I've got the Narva ones, and yes - they're quite flat compared to stocko.

Best of all tho they're made of plastic so are pretty light... from memory I saved almost 2kg per light over a stock 6V US Spec assembly using those and lexan front covers instead of the glass.

As Colin Chapman said... "Simplify, then add lightness"...
