Victor Frankenstein, perhaps ?;)

I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

That'll be a sweet package when finished !! There are a couple of blokes on here with the 944 brake experience and a bunch with subie experience so you have come to the right place.

One thing at a time

No 1 the floor pan is IRS disc brake ball joint front beam. The IRS single sideplate gearbox doesn't fit properly onto the chassis. The original gearbox mount on the body had already been taken off. Do I have to make a special mount to connect them together.
Thanks lakey

There's no gearbox or engine mounts on the body, just the front nose cone mount and the rear gearbox cradle bolted to the chassis forks.

is your front mount what your talking about?

the 73-76 pans have a totally different front setup, theres no mounting bracket like the pre 72 just 2 studs hanging down that pick up the gearbox nose cone rubber mount

gearbox mount

Hi

The front gearbox nose cone mount hits the tube that go out to the spring plates. The gearbox seems to be leaning down towards the front. Any ideas , does this make sense.

Thanks Paul

If the nose cone is hitting the Torsion bar tube sounds like you have the gearbox cradle back to front, there is normally a 2" gap between the tube and the nose cone.

They are fairly different but they can be retro fitted.

I run an early one in mine they are much stronger than the 73 onwards ones and the rubber mounts are better design too.

My early one (bottom) came from a late 50s split window Kombi.
