Type 2 into Type 1

Hi,

I'm fitting a type 1 IRS box with type 2 output flanges into a 76 Bug.

Can I just change the stub axles and add type 2 drive shafts & CV's?

Reasonably sure the flanges will go straight on, but the axles will be too long unless you are changing your arm length too.

I'm not changing the length, so do type 1 axles fit type 2 CV's?

Only when you have both sides of the centre splined part of the type 2 cv machined to type 1 cv width. I had this done to my type 2 cv's in my beetle.
