1971 BEETLE IDLE Problem

Hi
we have a 1971 standard beetle
we had issues with it idling so we got the carby reconditioned

since then the car idles ok when the auto choke is on ,once warm its a different story
it idles poorly and always stalls if idling for any length of time
I increased the idle speed but makes no difference

Any suggestions please

What did you do to adjust the idle speed? A pic of your carb will help.

my guess is an air leak somewhere

increasing the idle speed is the wrong road to go down

It idles ok when the choke is on because the richness is compensating for the leak
once it backs off the leak takes over.

99% you have white spark plugs

I'm guessing some other causes- idle mixture and idle air speed correction setting screws not properly set.
