IRS v Swing axle gearbox frame horns

Hi All
would anyone happen to have some pictures of a cross cut of the IRS and swing axle gearbox mounting horns which shows the difference be tween the two.

Cheers

I have had both open while doing frame horn mods and don't remember any difference between either.Externally the IRS horns are slightly smaller in diameter at the ends and have a more defined dent below where the CV joints sit. The IRS horns have an 8 mm stud welded on the LH one for the earth lead to attach. What project are you doing?

I have a buggy which I'm going to fit a Kombi box to with solid mounts
If you go the the Gene Berg site that have them (this is for the front mount that welds in) they have 2 different mounts one for swing and IRS.
I'm pretty shore that my pan has been converted to IRS by the look of the welding on the mounts or my be a really bad repair at some time.
I have my leg in a cast at the moment so I can get in to check pan number :(
So I thought I would try this avenue to find the difference ,
GB 640B Same as GB 640 to fit a sedan 1961 and later chassis with our BUS600 conversion to install the IRS bus gear box in the sedan. Specify for IRS or swingaxle pan. If you are NOT running the Folts axle conversion and require the trans centered we have a version of this mount for that. Originated by Gene Berg in 1989. Made in USA by Gene Berg Enterprises. SW 5#

OK- onto it now.Its not the frame horns that matters- its to do with the front trans mount. From what I have seen there are 3 different types- the early ones were cast into the torsion bar tube, next they used a pressed steel mount that was welded to the tube and the last ones had 2 10mm bolts welded to the tube and the mount is slotted and slides onto the bolts. You can cut them all off and fabricate anything you need.
