Shopmate - Auspost's US trans-shipping address service for posting items.

just found a service that might appeal to some people. Auspost now have Shopmate https://shopmate.auspost.com.au/
Some US businesses and some people you might want to deal with on TheSamba for example wont ship direct to Australia.

this service provides that US drop point and they offer a repacking service to reduce volumetric weight and help keep costs down.

I wonder how much extra postage it will cost on top of the cost to get it to the delivery centre in the USA?

its actually detailed on the website and it seems to be slightly higher than what I generally pay from the main suppliers. And postage within US can be fairly cheap, or quite often no extra cost to the buyer.

Anyway, this is an option when sometimes there is no other, like when buying that impossible to get item from private sellers or small businesses that have been burned before.

Hardly a threat to the main suppliers in Australia if thats what you are concerned about.
