contact this guy in the US. He is a VW key specialist and will make perfect coded keys from NOS vw blanks for stuff all.

Have you spoke to a specialist automotive locksmith in the Sydney area?
Send a photo of the key to them via SMS.
I was a qualified locksmith for over 20 years, from strongroom doors to car locks. Everything is available somewhere.
I'm sure somebody will help you, especially if you give as much info as you can.
Do you need keys made to code, or do you need a duplicate or two of an existing key?

Have no idea of what the code is so was assuming it would need to be a copy made. Trouble is the key is a bit worn.

If you know that the car used one key for every door and ignition that helps, and then there will be a code stamped on either the door lock
(driver's) or the ignition, and if they are the same code it looks promising - assuming they are the originals.
The lockie can also work out the code by looking at the brass wafers/slides in order, in the locks, which are usually stamped with tiny numbers. This
is backed up by looking at the key and getting an idea what the key looked like before wearing down. Again, if you take a door lock and ignition to
them it eliminates any doubt.
A good locksmith would have Spacing and Depth programs/cards ( spacing between cuts and the depth of those cuts , and the type of blank usually) to
cut the key by code and the locks are there to test them on. Usually a nice new jagged key will engage some long forgotten steering lock if it's
there!
There are some good locksmiths around who will do this, just ring around. Don't know what the cost will be though.

Every now and then i find a mr minute that has the right blanks
pretty sure the one a penrith plaza did it a couple of years ago
Otherwise the one at Campsie near VVDS did some for me a few tears back.

We have a good lockie in Port Macquarie who can cut keys from the code on the cylinder. He is great with VWs.

I lost the keys for my car the other day, so i took my door handle into the locksmith in town, and in half an hour for $22, i had a new key to suit!
