RHD rubber floor covering
Hello. A friend of mine has just had her 1974 1300 Bug resprayed a nice shade of green, and now the interior looks tatty compared to the shiny
outside. I've offered to help because I also use the car. So does anyone make replacent rubber floor coverings for RHD Beetles? She doesn't want
carpet because it's pretty muddy around here. |

I used rubber on the floor of the Tojo to try to protect the carpets from my 2 Neanderthals..........sorry, young boys.
Got some rubber sheet from Clark Rubber and then trimmed it to suit the floor shape.
May be an option?

If I can't buy them ready made, I guess I will try making them. The back looks like it could be done with a single piece, and the front probably with
one piece for the tunnel and another big U-shaped piece for the floor and bulkhead. There's rough textured recycled rubber matting at Clark's that
is cheap and looks about right for an old car, but it's hard to clean because of the porous surface. A few coats of tire paint might fix that
problem. |

The stuff I used I think is this........

When it's dirty or full of mud (for winter here it's red clay), take it out in one piece, sling it over the fence, then hit it with the hose on jet
to clean it off.

My beetle is my work vehicle - I am a builder. I can often end up with muddy boots. I have carpet on the floor, and got a set of the big rubber mats
they have for 4 wheel drives and stuff, just from my local auto parts store. When they get muddy, I just lift out the rubber mats and give them a hose
off and a scrub.
When I have something flash on, or I am taking my bug to a show, I just take the mats out, give it a vacuum, and viola.
