Hard wire dash cam ?

No reason for this question other than to clear up a point of discussion, do dash cams need to be hard wired or do they just plug into a 12v outlet .

They come with just a socket that plugs into the lighter socket but I hardwire mine to the ignition circuit so they only power up once the car is running not when just ACC is on listening to music.
