retractable seat belts for my 1971 beetle

Im looking to fit retractable seat belts to the front seats of my 71 bug (metal dash). What types (or from other makes of cars) of retractable seat belts are compatible and will fit the front anchor points? I am based in Melbourne.

cheers

Go to your local general parts store, they can order in Klippen brand seat belts, ADR approved, make sure you get them with a hard stalk

Would have thought (but happy to stand corrected) you need the mounting bracket to spin the reel around so that it's axis is across the car. That's what I have in my '68.

Bracket is easy to make and they dont need to be mounted in any particular direction, I had a dispute with the NSW RMS about this, they acutally defected my car for this, an engineer from Klippen confirmed with me that they can be mounted, north to south or east to west

Here are some photos of the bracket that came with my 75 bug - should be the same as what you need to make. I have replaced my original belts a few times now with Klippan.

Cool. Happy to be wrong as these factory brackets whilst not complicated to make are likely scarce as the proverbials now

I don't know that you are wrong, I was just posting the photos to help give some ideas if he wanted to make some.
