EMPI disc brake installation
Hello I have a EMPI wide 5 disc brake kit installed on my beetle. The right hand side kit is on fine, but the left hand side there is about 5mm
movement horizontally in the calliper and im not sure how to adjust this so it doesn't move about. The picture shows the black rubber accordion
bushing as being all compressed up. on the other side it is spaced out. If anyone can help with what I need to do to stop this horizontal movement
that would be good.
thanks

Righto, So there is a metal boss at the top of the rubber bellows. This is the slide pin that slides in and out of the caliper frame (that which is
bolted to the hub/spindle. Then there are the 2 bolts (one top, one bottom) that screw into the slide pin and hold the caliiper piston body to the
caliper frame. Sometimes you have to grip the slide pin to be able to do the caliper body mounting bolts up properly.
If that's not it then it could simply be the pads need seating against the disc after you've bled the brakes.Once the systems bled and the brake
pedal pushed until it goes firm so you know the pads are resting against the discs and the caliper piston has taken up the slack then any movement
will be a mechanical fixing loose or a manufacturing fault.
