VW Industrial Engine Governor Belt

Does anyone have any leads on where to find a new Governor Belt for the VW Industrial Engine?
VW don't sell them anymore and Gates can't even tell me what size it is because they made them for VW and not for retail sale.

Any leads appreciated

I know Mark at Imported Car wreckers stripped quite a few industrial engines a few years ago and lots of the bits should still be there

If You have an old belt, take it to a bearing place which should be able to match it. Many car shops should also have many car vee belts to choose from.

You used to be able to match an OE belt part number with a common belt size years ago, but many of those numbers and matching numbers have all but disappeared these days. Most Car fan belts are thinner than an A size Vee belt.. [from 1950-on at least] and better quality usually,
Have You checked to see that the belt isn't a common VW one??

Haven't had a chance to ring yet.

Lee, it's a toothed belt like a timing belt that was only used on the Industrial Engines

a 30 sec phone call intead of the facebook message you sent him would have already answered the question...
he's not on facebook so he rarely sees those messages....

if i'm up there at some stage this week i can have a look too, but he'll know within seconds of you caling him or his ofsiders Pete or Ronnie

Had another look at pics and see that it has teeth not a vee belt with notches... that makes it much much more difficult to find generically..

I am curious to what it governs. If it's on a genny I guess it's engine revs. I was fixing a disabled chair lifter recently which needed a new cogged flat belt. Thought snow flake in hell outcome- went to CBC and new one arrived next morning.

It governs the engine speed related to load.
Mine is a 10kva 240volt generator, so the more electrical load placed on the generator slows down the vw motor, so the Governor increases revs to compensate
