Looking for an old FAG.....002 main shaft bearing
Howdy
I'm chasing after a 002 trans main shaft bearing
it's the bearing thats under the gear shift housing held in place by a c clip
The one i have is all rusted up solid
Just wanted to know if anyone had and old used one that still spins ok, it's only for a off road engine test trans so wont need to be all that good
of condition
OD is 66mm.
ID is 28mm
Width of the outer race is 14.5mm
Width of the inner race is 18mm.
The inner race is equally centred on the outer race.
The FAG bearing number is 524737D
The VW part number was 002-311-123A
The SKF bearing is 306189
It was used from 73 to 76 in the 002 bus trans
Cheers

OLD FAG!!!!
Elderly Gay Gentleman would be more 'PC', surely.
I'd rather wear a Beetle out by racing it than by polishing it!

Yep....just as i suspected those old FAG bearings are made from unobtainium
Can get a cheap bearing from the US but it's made from chinesium
Have had experiences with chinesium before ......Once my new chinesium wrench broke in three places....... and i was not even using it at the time

Have you tried Tooley Imports or Mick's Motors, it is not that long ago that I purchased a couple and Tooleys got a shipment of parts recently.
