[SOLD] [FS - VIC] 71 SBUG Autostick
Engine AS036887 Stock 1600 cc (I think)
Starts well, runs well, lots of power. Never skipped a beat.
Oil changed regularly. Tuned regularly
Single Solex Carb
Spare heads (used) included (bought as spares, never needed to install)
Some bling installed. Rocker covers, pullies etc.
Phat Boy Stainless Steel exhaust. Sounds great and breathes well
Autostick Gear Box
Others
New CV joints (3,000 miles ago)
New battery (3 months)
What it needs:
- Interior. Previous owner replaced the front seats with foamies. They are not great. Back seat is in good nick (black original).
- Floor pan under battery has a bit of rust. Replacement pan needs to be planned.
- Body - paint is ratty. It's been like that since I had it. I don't mind it but you may want to give it some love. A few dings collected over the
years but otherwise straight.
- One running board installed (fairly new). Other running board supplied (new)
- Rust - theres a bit here and there. Nothing terminal.
- Fuel line - I replaced the rubber hoses but the steel hard line needs replacing. (New stainless steel pipe included to replace)
- Fuel Gauge has issues. Sender seems to work OK. Vibrator may need replacing (part supplied).
- Standard steel rims - hubcaps supplied (4). Tyres in RWC.
- 2 spare rims & tyres
- Electrical - horn is temperamental.

Perfect car to learn to drive in - both my son & daughter learnt to drive in an almost identical 74 L Beetle - same colour, same patina albeit
fully manual.
They have now modern cars (a/c, power everything) but can hop into anything and drive it

Not even funny!. I can only part with one love at a time.
As for the kids learning to drive in it - it's not their driving ability I am worried about. I'll teach them (and probably in a manual) to drive
properly. It's everybody else in the Melbourne 'burbs I'm worried about.
