I just did a revs check on the strange chassis number that is on it and it has come up as a '61.

So 1961 it is.

I would guess that it is a NSW Police issued number. The chassis number indicates manufacture April 1963. It could have been a second hand floorpan or new replacement at some stage.




I read it on samba, so it must be correct.

Sometimes Volkswagen dealers sell spare parts. Amazing isn't it!:lol:

How did you come up with April 1963?
Just curious.
The revs check I did came up with 1961.

Chassis number checked with VW records.
