I think you will find that any rego engineer with half a brain will insist on rear discs - and proabably upgraded fronts, too. (despite the fact that Kombis have huge stock brakes) Just do it!

do your self a favor and give Kimm at Indian automotive a call, I put the same question past him and he said it is overkill, e.g.; he has a dual cab with a supercharged V6 3.8l out of a VS commodore which pushes out around 300 HP he has not upgraded the brakes on that beast, and let me tell you that thing can kick some a$$ and pulls up pretty good.
Good luck

ps. how’s the v6 conversion going? I'm just about to put the motor in mine it should be in next week.

you can have drums all around as long as it passes the brake test
- that is the way the regulations work

- at least in qld

despite that i am going rear discs and i highly recommend it to everyone.

Hi K K
don't need the rear disc but they look the $h!t, I’m also going big ass diameter wheelsand will look good through them. how are you going with regards to wiring the thing up I'm going to get the sparky to do mine it looks to hard to work out myself.

Actually queensland has clauses that basically say "to the satisfaction of the engineer". I think you'd be hard pressed finding an engineer that wouldn't ask for rear discs to be fitted. I asked mine if I needed rear disc brakes and he strongly suggested it. So I took that as a yes I need rear discs.

the reason i made that comment was because, on another project i was helping a friend with, one compliance officer advised me front and rear discs were absoloutely necessary, and then I was agressively bored out for assuming this by another.

He says he tests all his cars with a brake test device and as long as it shows sufficient deceleration for the test conditions, it dont matter what your setup is. -Obviously the standard is going to be fairly good though-
