POR 15

I had both rear quarter section replaced in the floor by "micksmotors" about 8 months ago. I thinkin of taking out the mats and scraping off all the "sound deadning" (most of it broken up).then painting inside and out ofthe pan with "POR 15"....am I heading in the right direction.:jesus

I have bought it from a place in Salisbury in Brissy before - can't remember the name of the place though (it is an automotive paint supplier) - I found them by emailing the people from the ppc site and asking where to get it from.

I'll try and find a receipt but it was a while back.

Yes, POR 15...
the Yanks and the Europeans swear by it..
the only stuff that will keep the salt from eating their chassis away... My Son painted a Beetle in it a few months ago..
Was difficult He said and He's a professional. also don't forget - it can be expensive.... the whole system that is...

Would recommend this every time.
Have used it on the underneath of the kombi, sets rock hard, you can hit it with a hammer and it wont crack.
Tried to remove some to do some work, had to get the angle grinder on it.
Dont get any on your skinas it will NOT come off, you have to wait till your skin sheds itself???
If you are having trouble getting it.

Couldn't resist

Not really in the market for that sort of stuff but have had a few bajas full of cancer so I'll keep it in mind.

The reason for the post: I'm not a cat person but my wife is. Our cat just cruised in as I was reading your post and has perched itself on the window sill right next to me and is reading you post.

Hope it all goes well.

PS I love cats. They taste like chicken.

POR 15

I can say its pretty damn hard, painted my pan with it (and yes got some on my skin) and have bounced a lot of things off the pan - haven't rebuilt the car yet - and it has stayed bloody hard. Just avoid it on your skin, it just won't come off till the skin leaves!! Think there is still piccies in the paint section of the pan, its dries and self levels.

I sandblasted my pan and covered it with Por-15. I was not happy with the results after the first coat (brushed on) was done. However, I sprayed the other coats and everything came out great. Much smoother. This stuff is really hard. Here are some pics.

por 15

I must say that this stuff is top notch :thumb:thumb:thumb

I painted my floor pan of my oval in it after it was blasted and theres no chance that me or the next owner would be doing any rust repairs for at least the next decade, that even goes for the battery tray!!!

Its not cheap but worth every cent.

My tip: Paint the under side with three coats and the top side twice.
