Car alarm?
Hey everyone, i bought a cheap car alarm from jcar and i am having a bit of trouble installing it in my kombi. The is a wire on the alarm that has to
be wired to the accessories on the ignition switch, the problem is my car doesnt have the acc on the ignition:o Where all kombis like this? Where
should i put the wire?

As far as I can remember, the acc (accessory) switch is the first stage you turn the key to before starting the engine. It's when the generator
and oil lights come on. I would have thought all VWs would have it. What year is your kombi?

I think you will find NO VW's have accessory switches
When the gen and oil lights come on you have power.
Accessory is a step before this where only certain things get power - not the coil etc.
How to help...... dunno sorry.

I think you might be right. However, most modern sound systems require one power lead to be connected to the acc switch. I remember when I put my
stereo in it had two power leads, one gets power all the time to keep the clock going and remeber the preset stations and another which should have
been connected to acc. This wire supplied power when the key was turned to position one and allowed the stereo to work. I'm guessing, but I
think the alarm would probably work the same way. If you connect the acc wire to any terminal in the fuse box which only receives power when the key
is turned to position one, it should work.

Yep. hook the accessory wire into the headlights. Just use a piggy back connector on the headlight fuse.
