indicator relay on 75 Kombi makes a buzzing noise

- instead of the usual 'clicking' noise. the indicator light stays on instead of blinking on and off when I indicate to turn.

the buzzing comes from behind the fuse box, where I assume some sort of relay will be found.

Is the buzzing something that might be fixable, or is it always an indication that the realy is buggered and I need a new one? I"d have a fiddle with it, but no point wasting my time if its dead!!

Cheers

my indicator makes a buzzing noise when my hazards are turned on, so maybe yours are wired incorrectly, or u have the same problem as me. my blinkers work, but my hazards were disconnected by the previous owner. buzzing sound comes from the fusebox like you say.

I assume that the same thing happens whether you indicate left or right? If so, I'd reckon the flasher relay is knackered. Yes, it is up under the fuse box. I haven't replaced one, but it looks like it would just be a matter of making a note of what wire went where, unplugging the old and plugging in the new! AFAIK they are readily available and cheap.

Yep, best to try a new one. They actually plug up into the bottom of the fuse box, easy as pull out and push a new one in.
The silvery relay is for high beam, so the other one is for the idicators (usually only two relays there).
Take note of the number on it as there are few different styles (or check a manual to be certain it's correct).
Shouldn't be too expensive.

Thanks for all the replies, especially the last one about giving the relay a quick clean and it worked good as new, I'll try that one first!

Hi

The relay will also buzz if both bulbs on one side are blown, it will also flash quickly if a one bulb on one side is blown.

78 kombi Indicators freeze

I havn't checked this out yet but my indicators work most of the time but will randomly freeze (the green light on the dash is on but the amber light out side is off) the only way to fix it is by putting on the hazards then turning them off which seems to start the flasher box going hence the indicators working.

any ideas ?

flasher relay ?

loose conection ?
