I've been watching this one for a while, looking like fun
Hope you get to run it soon, then take it for a spin (and a spin it will be)

Hey Kombi
I have been told I will break the 911 trans. But, I don't plan to dragrace the car. It is for the road. I got lucky on the whole thing. Car
$40.00,73 pan $0.00, trans $225.00, engine $400.00, adaptor plate $0.00. Has taken almost 4 years to find all the parts.

Sorry
The trans was no real problem. Lots of measuring and I usually do things 3 times. " Not right, maybe, and this will work." I plan to take
the body off and take more photos at Christmas. My father-in-law will be here with his digital camera.

A little update. No photos. It was cold out and my wife didn't think taking photos was the way to spend Christmas. My friend didn't get
the wiring harness finished so I didn't get to fire it up. The good news: He is working on the harness this week. YAHOO!

Found a Porsche 933 in a salvage yard today. I now have a tach, 150mph speedo, clock, amp guage, and the multiple guage with the fuel, temp and idior
lights. $11.00 for all.
YAHOO!

g'day junkyard oval,
Does this super cheap wrecking yard have any vanagons? Looking for seat swivel bases, interested to know as #2 son is in usa at present but he is
anything but a tech head, knows nothing about cars and is not interested in them at all. I hope he can get some for me.

rear end
So is the 944 torsion bar rear or did you modify the spring plates?
Also, how did you get the inner mounts made up for the diagonal arms? Is it Porsche or Beetle or what?:thumb

The torsion bars are gone. The trans was moved forward 4 1/2". The center of the car was cut which did away with the torsion bars. The
firewall was moved forward about 14". Tubes come off the torsion tube and back and up for the top shock mount. The spring plates are stock
Porsche 944. The arms are aluminum so I made a steel plate which bolts onto the back side of the arm with the rear two bolts for the spring plates.
This plate curves up and back toward the axle for the bottom shock mount. It would also be possible to make a mount from aluminum plate and weld it
onto the arm for the bottom mount.
