AIR filters for buggies/offroad.
What type of filters are used for a serious buggy ?
I will be using twin Kadrons, and I thought instead of using K&N or Unifilters on each, I would mount a high paper element/canister style of
filter and duct both carbies to it.
What do you all think ??? is there a good universal aftermarket one ? should I run two on either side of the buggies body work, or one large one
from a Landcruiser etc ???
Needs to be simple and serviceable!
Ideas or photo's would be good !

mmmm
there was a very good article on this in Edition two of the Manx Mania Dowunder and also in teh Collectors Edition.
I have twin K & N's on mine an dthey run very well. Papare on Kadrons would need like 2 x 8" donaldsons or they would restrict it.

I've got that mini plastic donaldson on my baja, but for a serious buggy I don't think it would be suitable. |

Brad, I assume the carbies have a ducting to a common air box with the two K&N filters on the top ??
any probs with the filters getting wet from the rain ?
I thought Donaldsons were a pre cleaner to your main filter ?

K&N make a direct replacement for the kadron paper element. I used a pair when I ran twin kadrons on a 1776. They use the standard kadron top and
bottom metal pieces.
As brad said, the manx club mag's had a detailed article that covered air filters.

thanks Wes, been using the K&N filters for years, wanting something more durable and less maintenance, prefer a larger capacity filter up
higher.
Easy to come up with something, just thought there may have been some good setups on the forum members cars

I run a single K&N for each carbie. Everything is split and isoloated. I actually have 3 as I run another one for my breather box. I use 3"
stainless tube and 3" rubber / stainless flex for the lines. I have had no probs at all with the rain although I have designed a hat for it never
needed it as yet.
They stay clean and work real well.

I'm running a single K&N up high in the center. Seems to attract very little dust. When I am on the beach I wrap it in 5mm foam oiled with
filter oil, to act as a pre filter to the K&N element.
