essential VW tools?

Ok guys!
what are the tools that you have in your tool box that you carry in your dub that you wouldn't go anywhere without.
This might give others an idea of what they should be carrying with them.

Just don't do what I did today, Drove my Split single cab to Volksday towed my Beetle on a trailer behind, Didn't have a tool in the ute, no spare wheel, no jack.
Lucky I didn't need them!

i carry two of the bilstien? jacks. the VW jacks anyway. but not one handle to jack them up with.

an old screwdriver that i used the grinder to make pointy (for removal of hubcaps)

a spare wheel, but nothing to remove the wheel nuts.

1L of oil.

and my swiss army keys. - my keys have unscrewed pretty much all the screws in the engine bay at one time or another. to this day when i need to set the bypass air screw on the carb out i hop and the VW key fits in sweet.

as you can see i'm prepared for anything. :D

next time i have some spare cash i'm going to a few cheap shops and assembling a basic set of tools to keep in the car. but untill then i'm ready in my complete and utter unpreparedness.

Looks like I will have to ration the number of tools that I carry in my toolbox. I have virtually everything in there! Lowers the car by a couple of inches when you put it in the front! :D Puts big dents in the panelwork around the boot of my Company car when it slides around on the carpet too!! :o

I agree with 68AutoBug - keep a fire extinguisher in the car at all times (one for each car).

A length of garden hose for
1: syphon fuel from poor unsuspecting passer by when desperate to get somewhere and distinct lack of expensive juice happens...
2: 150mm of hose is excellent for replacing spark plugs on any vw, you can get the plug thread started with no chance of damaging threads in head, and it holds the plug while inserting it into the tin ware holes...

Spare wheel on the bullbar.

Standard claw hammer: the hitting end is for dodgy starter motors, the other end gets hubcaps off.

Normal Kombi jack, with a ring spanner for a winding handle.

Extendable wheel brace: use it short for tightening nuts, then you can always get them off later by using it long.

Spare alternator belt, and the right spanners to be able to change it.

Spare oil.

Spare fuses.

Spare bulbs for headligts, brakes and indicators.

Torch.

And because my kombi has a bed and cupboards in it, I've always got curtains and a sleeping bag stored so I can get a good night's kip if I drink too much to drive home!
