BRM centre caps

Hey everyone,
I am running a set of mws 5.5 brm's on my 66 bug and the centre caps don't fit on the front due to dust covers and speedo drive. Have other people had this problem and how did they overcome this problem.

Cheers Damian

I groung the stub axle down level with the 2 nuts that hold the bearings in, then flattened the greese cap flush, the speedo cable just fits in but you need to sylastic to stop it pulling out

Yep I did exactly what dave has done. Whilst still on the car I used an angle grinder and (Carefully!) ground down the stub axle until it was flush with the locking nut. I had to grind a little off the inside edge (rim) of the dust caps to tuck them in further. Then hammer them flat, push the speedo cable back in so it is flush with the dust cap and silicone in place. I was worried it would come out but for well over a year whilst having the bug it stayed put without the circlip.
